“Western cup. It took some time to develop. It was a vaguely light, Darjeeling type tea that was a little bit dry. The almond and peach notes did not develop until the second brew. It was muscatel...” Read full tasting note

Description

Temi tea estate is located in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim, which borders China, Nepal, and Bhutan. The region’s name is derived from Sanskrit, meaning “mountainous land,” and is home to India’s highest peak, Kangchenjunga.

Sikkim teas are noticeably similar in character to teas from Darjeeling, no doubt due to the fact that they’re both grown in high mountain climates bordering the Himalayas. This offering from Temi has distinctive muscatel flavor, with notes of peach and almond, but more sweetness and less point than most darjeeling teas. What we’re doing:

1 heaping teaspoon (about 3 grams) of Temi FTGFOP per 6-8 oz serving
Heat fresh water to 195º-205ºF
Steep 3-5 minutes
What we’re tasting:

Fruity – Muscat grape, peach
Nutty – Almond
