This is another sample I received from Della Terra Teas after winning their Facebook giveaway – Thank you to Della Terra Teas! See my note for Caramel Cappuccino Crunch for info on shipping (if interested.) This tisane suffered a lot from the smell contamination, but I think it’s mostly back to normal now. I must say I don’t smell strawberries or kiwi but instead some vague indeterminate berry aroma. I get a hint of cinnamon (which is weird!) and I can smell the hibiscus in the dry leaf. Steeped for approximately 5 minutes, the liquor is a vibrant red/pink from the hibiscus and the aroma still has that hint of something I can’t place.

First sips are surprising. I don’t know if this needed more leaf or more time, but the flavour is very mild and unassuming. What flavour I get is lightly sweet (hibiscus is not nearly as present as I had feared). Again, I don’t get strawberry or kiwi. Just something vaguely fruity – and that strange note I couldn’t place from the aroma is still there in the taste. I am thinking it might be lingering smell contamination from the chocolate puerh, as there is nothing in the ingredient list to suggest this flavour.

Unfortunately, this is another one that I am glad to have sampled but would not keep in my cupboard. Strawberries are my favourite berry and I am continually looking out for a tea that can accurately replicate their flavour. This one doesn’t even come close so it’s a bit of a letdown. I think this might stand a better rating under a different name (berry melange or something like that). Expecting strawberries and/or kiwi just leaves me a bit disappointed. Sorry!

EDIT: After reading Sil’s tasting note, I’m thinking I might cold brew the other half of my sample and see if that has a better flavour. It can make a huge difference in the taste of fruity teas, so I’ll try to get to that. : )

Won a glass tumbler the other day from the tea emporium here in Toronto. What’s awesome about that is that now I can make cold brews in something with a lid! Lol I’ve been holding on to the last of my sample of this one for a cold brew and I’m glad that I did! This will be a fantastic tea in the heat of the summer! Tethers enough of a tarty flavour to it that its refreshing and delicious. :)

ooooh what location? I go to the Bay and King store but they don’t have to go cups. Probably a good thing haha

Sil

Tea Emporium – used to go to bay and king when I worked at FCP now i visit the eglinton location. They were having a contest on twitter/facebook the other day. It’s a pretty nice tumbler – though small.

I was a bit apprehensive about getting this one considering I had gotten a strawberry kiwi herbal that was horribly hibiscus and tasted of nothing else.

This one is completely different. I cold brewed it for about 6 hours. It was SO fruity, definitely kiwi too! Not one bit tart, not one bit like a straight hibiscus tea. Finally a tea that definitely tastes like kiwi! It does taste like strawberry too.

I wouldn’t drink this hot, this is definitely a tea that should be cold brewed. I can’t believe how much flavor it had just after 6 hours, but the stupid t-sac did leak out a ton of water through the side. Didn’t bother me, it was just like strawberry kiwi juice!

Ugh, I really want to make a Della Terra order after seeing all these fabulous reviews… but I just can’t!

momo

Their Facebook contests! That’s how I got this one!

Sil

Kittena I also have some samples I can share with you

Kittenna

Oh, that would be awesome! I was perusing their website tonight but just can’t justify ordering… :( I got a sample of their Coconut Almond Black, or whatever it was, and a very small sample of Grandma’s Pumpkin Pie, but that’s it (from Facebook, as well).

Thanks to Janelle for a sample of this tea! I wasn’t expecting too much to be honest; primarily a hibiscus-heavy herbally blend, and I’m about right. Doesn’t particularly taste like strawberry kiwi to me, just like hibiscus, although to be fair, the hibiscus isn’t overpowering and just adds a nice amount of tartness. It’s really not a bad tea as herbals go, actually, just not true to the name.

Oh lawdy, I can’t remember who sent me this but I will go back and check. So many samples lately!

Funny, I’m definitely losing my mind. Not sure how I even remembered this much but…. I had cold brewed this the other day, for a long time. It was tasty. But I’ve been cold brewing tons of teas to try and get through a lot of my stash, and as caffeine free options to drink iced now that it’s so warm outside.

I drank this and liked it but for the life of me couldn’t remember what the hell it was! Until I saw the sample bag on the counter and it all came back to me. Oy.

To summarize. It was fruity and potent and delicious as a cold tea. I didn’t use a ton of it, maybe 1.5 tsp in a biggish jar, but left it for like, days, haha. So that worked out.

I will be all set once I can properly thank the lovely swapper who sent it to me!!

Our apartment complex decided we needed an entire week of no water between 10am-5pm, which sucks but is doable… until they’re over an hour late to turn it back on!

We decided to comfort ourselves with a hot pot of this, and it’s slightly tart sweetness did the job nicely. Both the strawberry and kiwi present themselves nicely, and don’t taste too artificial. Reading over the reviews, I noticed that a lot of you prefer this as iced tea, and that sounds delicious! Do you just make a pot and stick it in the fridge or do you go through another process? Thank you!

The name of this one intrigued me. Strawberries and kiwi? YUM. I just steeped myself a hot cup and put the resteep in the fridge to cold brew for a while.

It’s alright hot, but in checking out the other reviews, I must say I could see it being better chilled as well.

There’s a taste of strawberries there with a subtle hint of underlying kiwi. I’m thrilled there’s no artificial taste here.

Mmmm kiwi! Definitely chill this or cold brew as the kiwi really pops when its cold. When warm its mudled and nearly last in the strawberry which is definitely there too. Chilled is delicious.

This is an amazing iced tea, like really amazing! The first kiwi tea I have had that managed to actually taste like kiwis )and the strawberry flavour is definitely there too)! Not too tart, but not overly sweet. I took it to work in my Timolino and enjoyed it all day long!
