Another tea from the sub box, though it’s not new. My thoughts are similar to last time I had this, under its former name – it’s pleasantly fruity with berry flavours but nothing amazing. I don’t know about the medicinal benefits of it but it’s certainly quite palatable regardless, but not interesting enough for me to stock up on.

This is the last of the Reset/Recharge teas from the collection that launched over a week ago; it took me much longer to get through all of the tasting notes than I wanted but I did it! For those not in the know, I have a pretty severe mushroom allergy which has limited the amount/way I can taste the Lady Chaga blend as well as this tea.

I explained more thoroughly in that tasting note, so if you’re not aware of what I’m talking about you can check that note out! I had planned to taste Lady Chaga on one day and Reishi Recharge the next, but I did end up having a minor reaction after trying Lady Chaga so I put a bigger gap in between those tastings…

This is basically intended to be a light to medium bodied fruity profile – a little on the sweeter side and very berry forward. The loose idea/concept was to hide the taste of the reishi (mushroom) under the berry flavours – however the blend consists of different element types that could all have been “foraged” or harvested together in a forest. I think it’s a cool concept, though of course I’m a bit biased here and sort of wish we just wouldn’t do mushroom teas in general. That would, at the very least, make MY life a little easier…

Keeping in mind that my taste of this blend is VERY fleeting/limited, I do think the flavour is nice! I would love to experience it iced as well because it just screams “Iceable herbal” to me, but I’m not going to put my body through that. I don’t taste ANYTHING that I would link to mushroom though; it’s basically a sweet and incredibly generic “red fruit”/berry flavour. To me, I find generic red fruit teas really boring but I think this is probably the most approachable way DT has ever explored mushrooms in a tea blend and the sort of “safe” fruity flavour leans really well into creating a profile that those on the fence about mushroom teas could still get behind. I also liked that it didn’t seem too sweet either, especially for a berry blend. However, who’s to say where the sweetness level would build over a full cup? I’m definitely not the person…

So, a double edged sword in terms of flavour delivery? Kind of a neat concept, though.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

See, I absolutely adore mushrooms. I don’t know what I would do if I had an allergy! I’m so grateful that I have no food allergies at all, as I’ve heard some really scary stuff about life dealing with them.

But as for this tea, it sounds like something I might like to try. I may have to splurge for that DT order I’ve been putting off.

There’s two mushroom teas out right now (FML) – the other is called Lady Chaga. I feel like that’s the one I’d recommend if you actually wanted to taste elements of the mushrooms, and this is the one I’d recommend if you don’t.

I’ll try to remember to send you a message next time we have a free shipping sale, or a sale with a lower free shipping threshold.
