Geek Steep S2E21 – The Witcher

I definitely thought about doing something Gongfu with my rewatch and even had a clear idea of what type of straight tea I might pick, but in the end I went with my second thought – and that was a pot of this tea!

This isn’t a tea that I personally love too much (probably in large part because of the licorice root) but sometimes the deep earthiness and strong roasted almond flavours fit my cravings. In this case, I was inspired by that distinct earthy “brown” flavour from the mix of different roots and the fact that this tea originally launched as part of a Halloween collection themed around spellcraft. Between those two elements, it just seemed like a natural fit to cover the magic infused but dirty and gritty world in which The Witcher takes place.

I was really happy with this pairing and it’s something I’d definitely revisit again. I do feel like you need a really particular type of flavoured tea to fit just right with this fandom, and honestly drinking a straight tea probably would have been the “easier” route – but this payoff was very satisfying.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
