From DAVIDsTEA

Once yaupon a time

Why aren’t more people talking about yaupon? It’s the energizing herb we’ve all been waiting for. Believe it or not, it’s actually native to North America – and can be found growing wild in Texas, Oklahoma, south Virginia and Florida. With stimulating properties similar to yerba maté and guayusa, yaupon was traditionally brewed into a tea for Native American purification rituals. Ready for a natural high? Try this light and lemony blend of wild-grown yaupon, lemon peel and lemongrass. It might just be a new morning ritual.

I tried this sample hot, but I think it would be excellent cold brewed or sweetend + iced.

Nice fresh lemon citrus flavour, sweet notes from another fruit (apple?). I found it quite nice and not too tart. I wouldn’t buy/drink this simply because of the caffeine content, but flavour wise it is extremely tasty if you like lemon. I also appreciate that it isn’t 99% hibiscus and rose hip.It also doesn’t have the bitterness of lemon rind, but it does have a strong flavour.

I tried this tea iced and it is my favorite so far. It looked and tasted like lemonade (But better). The flavour is light and lemony just like it says on the label. It’s little sour (like real lemons), but not overbearing. It tastes like you are drinking real lemonade. And it is super refreshing. I can’t wait to try this tea hot.

This is a good tea if you like lemon. It’s also a different type I’ve never heard of called ‘Yaupon’, so that’s interesting. It has a nice lemon flavour and its good with a little sugar or even honey. This tea is also good iced as well. I think its the only one I really enjoyed from the feel good collection.

Vaguely lemon. Not a bad wake up tea. I think I like Main Squeeze better as a citrus tea, though.

Sipdown on this one today… I picked this up on a whim about a month ago and I’ve been slowly drinking it down. I love the lemon and ginger and since it’s yaupon it doesn’t give me headaches (yay!) I went into David’s last week and they said they no longer sell this one loose D: if that’s true, I’ll have to try some of their other lemon teas because I really really enjoyed this one and I’m sad to see it go!

Im generally not a huge fan of fruity teas, but I gave this one a sniff when perusing the new lineup in store this winter and my nose was intrigued enough that I decided to try a small amount to take home. I was surprised that I ended up liking it enough to repurchase. It very much reminds me of when you heat up hot water and lemon for a soothing drink – only with some added extra flavor added by the lemongrass. It claims to have ginger, but I honestly don’t taste much of it which is probably a good thing since Im not a huge fan. I also add honey and its a really nice simple soothing tea that tastes like a hot lemonade. Not something I’d call a favorite I reach for every single day, but definitely nice to have around for an occasional citrus craving.

I’m in school full time this semester and have to take four summer session courses and a full course load next year to graduate in May 2017. On top of this, I need to maintain a 3.75 GPA to get the scholarships I need to support myself in the MA program I’ll be entering in fall of 2017. I. Am. Exhausted. Caffeine is the only thing keeping me going these days. Thank God for this tea.

My mom gifted me this, along with the rest of the Feel-Good collection, for my birthday a couple days ago and I’ve drank almost the whole 25g bag. I love lemon. Seriously, I could drink lemon juice straight, and this tea is soooo lemony. It’s not overwhelmingly tart like pure lemon juice is, but rather soft yet upfront. I also adore the yaupon in this. Why isn’t yaupon everywhere? I’ll never understand.

This tea is the only thing keeping me going through four hours of lectures each day plus reading two books a week and paper writing and all my other out of school activities. I plan on going out tomorrow to pick up at least another 100g. While definitely not for everyone, if you like lemon and earthy teas, this one is a keeper.

Received a free sample of this tea with an online order I made and, unfortunately, did not find it as tasty as it’s smell. I could be the only one who thinks this, but it sort of reminding me of a lemon sanitizing or cleaning product. The actual lemon taste was extremely overpowering. The tea was nice and sweet, definitely didn’t need to add any sugar to it, but it reminded me too much of a cleaner. Thankful I had the chance to try this newer tea, but also thankful that it was only a sample.

Sipdown, cold brew style. Now there’s the ginger that was missing when I initially tried this hot. This is great both ways. So grateful they didn’t inject a vat of stevia into this one, like they did with the majority of the ones they recently released.

If you love ginger, try this out cold brewed. If you love lemongrass, you definitely need to check this out. This is a feisty one. Full of flavour.
