From Dammann Frères

This fresh and delicate blend combines the velvety vegetal notes of a great green Oolong with notes of rose, apricot and passion fruit. Vegetal, floral and fruity aromas alternate smoothly in a subtle and harmonious infusion.

Sipdown (2671)!

This was the last of the three sachet samples that came with my advent, and honestly my least favourite of the three. The idea of a passionfruit oolong is really interesting to me, and I definitely admit this cup did have a tropical note to it. However, it lacked that really vibrant, sweet tangy quality that I so closely associate with passionfruit. Instead it was pretty floral leaning (not just from the oolong itself, but largely so) and a little drying in the backend. I fine enough tea that I would drink again if served, but far enough off from my expectations and totally nailing that passionfruit note that I don’t think I’d seek it out again of my own accord.

Dammann Frères Advent Calendar – Day 16

I got everything I love in my tea for Day 16 adventing: a tea that is the epitome of tea, a tea that tastes like cheesecake and citrus, and now this beautiful super green oolong with rose and passion fruit.

This is what I wanted “Oolong Exotic” to be – a more floral green oolong (almost buttery), less mid-roast oolong (I don’t like that with fruit)… a more subtle, breezy profile. Both the Rose oil and Apricot flavour are not heavy-handed (how can they be when passion fruit is such a lively flavour); they serve as lovely accents to this blend. The prominent floral and fruity notes trick my brain into picking up delicate cherry and/or plum blossom too. It’s ethereal and charming.

Oh, well! Now I know that this is the passion fruit oolong tea for me when it comes time to order more Dammann Frères.

Resteep reminds me of Superfine Momo Oolong from Lupicia, of all things. Very tasty.
