Brandy and Winter Peppermint

Wow! This tea is astonishingly good. Much better than I anticipated it being.

The peppermint here is really crisp and strong, as though the brandy notes are pushing the peppermint into the limelight. But it doesn’t taste like the typical peppermint tea … thanks to the presence of the brandy. The brandy is interesting in this blend. It makes its presence known throughout the sip, but it never really dominates. An interesting play between flavors with this cup. Interesting and very good.

First Review. March has been awesome! The weather has been high 60’s and 70’s and this Saturday we Northern Coloradans end with a burst of heat over 80 degrees! Time to go to my garage and take my outdoor carpet out of storage and fix up a place to sit and sip tea on the patio. I have a nice table and chairs and space to grow herbs and MINT (my favorite). When it’s hot I like a good Mint Tea…usually fresh Mint in the Middle Eastern/Egyptian manner with a pot full of leaves very hot and sweet…but dry tea leaves in regular tea form is fine too. When I read about this tea it sounded like a winner for year round use. Nice for cold days in the Winter and cooling for hot Summer.
The first thing you notice is the dry scent which will knock you down it’s so Pepperminty! I cautiously steeped for 4 minutes. Hum…a first sip without additions like sugar or cream proved just a little bit sweet and drinkable but thankfully not as pungent as expected. After the first taste which is mint, there is brandy in the background.
Whoever the blending guru was for this tea showed restraint and did not overdue the flavoring. Good thing too. It would have been gross, fake, gag me bleh with too much brandy. The taste is just right and interesting! Very Flavorful and rich. I’m liking this tea! Add sweetening and cream for a very special dessert tea. I like dessert! Cool and refreshing. I want to see what happens when the temperature decreases. Can this be iced? I’d love it iced if it can be done and add a little real mint. Pretty in a tall glass!

FUN, Fantastic, and intensely flavored! I like it – it’s pretty tremendous!

I bought a one OZ sample of this in late November, 2011, having brewed it twice (most recently on 1/20/2014).

Overall: I’m keeping this review very simple. I just brewed it up for my wife (in the midst of doing my pu-erh toucha sessions), using my standard black tea parameters (although I used my 16oz glass Victorian), and I am impressed with its flavor: I don’t drink brandy often, but I do like it, and this definitely tastes like brandy. The peppermint comes though nicely as well. Not artificial taste either. And, the leaf is at least two years old to boot. I am not a huge flavor-added tea guy, but I am impressed with this tea. My wife likes it as well.

This tea is a bit confusing to me. It smells incredible after brewing, and if I could find a scented oil like it, I’d be set for life! I didn’t much enjoy the very first flavor that hit me from the first sip… Maybe the brandy? But still, not something I loved. But then the peppermint hit, and its the most wonderful mint flavor I’ve ever experienced in a tea. I’m imagining this with a squeeze of lime, or with a spoonful of hot cocoa powder mixed in, and just incredibly excited about the potential of this tea.
