This black tea has big leaves. They unravel into fat brown tea leaves that hail from China’s Hunan province just north of Guangdong.
The twisted dry leaves have a robust aroma. In a warmed gaiwan, the leaves emit a hearty scent slightly reminiscent of cherries. After brewing, the wet leaves present the cherry aroma once again.
The liquor turns from dark red-brown to golden yellow throughout the session, where it starts off strong, yet not overpowering. In the end, the tea leaves a thick, syrupy sweetness in the back of the throat.
