From Camellia Sinensis

This organic garden returns this year with a lot consisting of several clones (or tea plant varieties) from different sections of the garden. Its liquor is rich and fruity, combining notes of spring fresh herbs and flowers, typical of AV2, with malty and spicy accents from the B157 and T78 cultivars. A tea suitable for any time or place, one to discover, or rediscover!

This one brews up a moderate and mellow cup, with nothing too attention-grabbing. It’s a quite fruity, with a seasoning of herbal grasses and spices (basil, thyme, parsley, etc.).

If Darjeeling tea is like wine, this is the one you have because someone, who probably mainly drinks beer, picked it up last minute for that light house party. It’s your low budget, “promotion without endorsement from any of the staff” wine, and it’s alright- just not amazing! It may pair well with a crockpot chicken though (cooking currently in progress).

This sample was generously provided by Camelia Sinensis and, if anything, it’s a reminder that I need to get back to exploring Darjeelings. I had some really intriguing samples a few years back, but this kind of tea is an acquired taste.

This sample is very old so it’s definitely much more flat and mellow tasting than it used to be, but I enjoyed the calmness that came to me as I sipped this very light muscatel and somewhat maltier profile, and the finishing notes were floral in a unique sort of way that reminded me a little of white flowers. What kind of white flowers? I don’t really know because, truthfully, there are a million white flowers with all different tastes and smells. White flowers could mean a million different things. It’s just what came to mind as I drank it, though…

Leafhopper

I have the same issue when something tastes like “white flowers.”

Another sample from Crowkettle this one reminds me more like a green tea than a darjeeling. this has a fruity and vegetal taste to it. Nothing that strikes me as being over the top amazing – ie would need to have this in my cupboard but it was a nice cup. :)
