From Butiki Teas

Confession time, we have never tasted a Caribbean Rum Punch before. If this is what they taste like then we foresee many of them in our near future. Mango notes are most prominent and meld with orange, lime, rum and sugar flavors for a taste that is unmistakably Caribbean. We highly recommend adding a touch of sugar.

Without reading the ingredients I managed to pick out lime, orange and mango from the scent! I’m way too proud of that because I’ve never been great with guessing scents – I can find them just fine when I already know what it is – and my nose has been playing up the last couple of days too so hopefully it’s settling down now. Sadly only the lime comes across in the flavour though, which I kinda expected because the orange and mango scents disappeared while this was brewing. I accidentally steeped this in water that was way too cool (tap was running a lot colder than usual because it’s freezing outside) and then threw away the leaf like the idiot I am, so for now I’m just going to drink my cup of tepid lime water, put the tea back in my drink-a-thon box and have it again another day when I’m feeling more like myself and not being an idiot with the steeping.

Tea comes from Kittenna!

I was SO tempted to spike this with rum the first time I made this, but ultimately decided it’d be best to try it plain before making any major alterations. Also, it amazes me I’m still trying ‘new’ Butiki blends. Truly, Butiki is a company that just keeps giving…

- This was VERY lime flavoured, and had a sour tinge
- Also a hint of orange
- Quite pithy
- I would’ve liked to see the flavour more well rounded
- And sweeter over sour…
- But I realize flavour may have faded over time
- And I’m not trying this at ‘optimal’ freshness…

This was another sample from Kaylee, and another blend I’d toyed with picking up in my last Butiki order. And in this case, I wish I had. It smelled and tastes quite citrusy, with maybe some pineapple or mango, and though I only tried it hot I bet it would’ve been great iced.

Happy Birthday to me happy birthday to meee!

B’day tea number 2!

The flavors meld really well together, I can distinctly taste the boozy rum, the lime, orange, the hay and melon notes of the white. I bet this would make great iced tea!

This was sent to me by my friend, because she really liked this, in addition to the other stuff she sent. Either I brewed it wrong, or something, but I didn’t get much out of this one. It was pleasant, but I didn’t really pick up the rum, and the fruit was just sort or there. I am saving the rest for a cold brew for a nice warm day. It sure is a pretty tea. I’m glad she sent it, and how my remaining sample works out better.
