S is for… Speakeasy Lapsang!
Sipdown (1396)!
I didn’t do a Lapsang for “L Day” so I was glad to have the chance to do one later on in this alphabet tea challenge – although this is technically a blend and not a straight Lapsang. It seems to be a slight twist on a Russian Caravan, reading through the ingredients list.
This definitely speaks to my flavour preferences/biases, but I think this is easily my favourite tea that I’ve tried from Bloom so far – it doesn’t taste like it’s been cut with Oolong or Sri Lankan black tea and is instead just an assertive blast of deep smoke and wet wood notes. Very aggressive, but smooth! It’s a delightful balance – especially as a few jammier red fruit notes sneak into the cup as it just slightly starts to cool.
I certainly don’t need more Lapsangs in my collection (I think I have well over a dozen!) but this is definitely something I would order again – especially because none of the Lapsangs or Lapsang blends that I have happen to be in sachet form, and that’s just super convenient for travel!
