O is for… Ooh-La-La Vanilla!
Sipdown (1397)!
I was nervous about this tea because when I opened the bag I was hit with a wave of vinegar like sourness – not like lemon or hibiscus but the sort of funk of something fermented or pickled. I could also see some pretty massive chunks of licorice root in the dry leaf as well, and neither of those were particularly great signs.
Honestly, though!? This was nice. It’s nothing really exciting/the write home over but for a vanilla rooibos I found it thick in mouthfeel/texture and quite flavourful. More of a creamy/custardy vanilla with plenty of honeyed notes from the rooibos and not really too much noticable licorice root either. For a simple and no fuss sweet vanilla tea without caffeine this could be a good option – just don’t let the dry leaf funk scare you off.
