R is for… Roots Reboot!
Sipdown (1400)!
Before opening the little foil sachet I had assumed this would probably be a very roasty and dark kind of herbal tea – lots of burdock and chicory, kind of in the vein of DT’s “Forbidden Root” blend for a few Halloweens ago. Instead, I found it was basically a blend of intense turmeric and ginger! Both still roots, so not sure why I was surprised, but it was just a different spin than I’d expected.
For a blend that is so heavily turmeric and that steeps such a pigmented yellow hue from the turmeric, it’s not really super earthy – definitely some heat and spice though. With the ginger, this is the kind of blend that tickles the back of your throat with the spices and seems to warm you from the inside out. It’s not really my kind of tea profile at all, and I found the ginger aggressive (though the turmeric was passable) but overall it was much better than I’d have ever expected it to be.
