From Bitterleaf’s “6 Treasures Liu Bao Heicha Tasting Set”
A traditional lightly fermented heicha made from local varietal old trees. This tea has a nice mushroom scent that is complemented by a slight fruitiness, similar to fruit candy. The flavour is layered and there is a cooling sensation in the throat. This would be considered similar to older 3 Cranes style Liu Bao. Overall this is complex, with a sweet presence and nice texture.

Grand Yunnan TeaI would have guessed this was younger! The flavors are quite complex, rocketing from truffled banana bread on the nose, to sweet green herbs in the mouth, to an aftertaste of pear candy on the swallow. Tasted like cooling, felt like heat. Apparently this is just a lighter ferment, but I still would have expected 20+ years to infuse some more funk and darkness. The complexity is there, though — a total surprise on my Liu Bao journey. Looking forward to revisiting.
