“Nice dancong! I got this tea from my BLT order, and it’s relatively decent. Beautiful leaves with a slight golden sheen, rich aroma that’s pervasive through the dry, wet leaf and empty cup. Decent...” Read full tasting note

Description

One of the most common and popular varietals of all Dancong, “Milan Xiang” literally means “honey orchid fragrance”. This tea exhibits just that, with the honey quality becoming more prominent in subsequent brews, accompanied by a slight fruity quality all the way through.

Made from old bush, high mountain material from Da An (大庵), this tea is a good standard for what a higher end Dancong should be. There is a smooth and full feeling in the mouth, as well as a strong huigan/lasting sweetness.

Typical for the varietal, this tea is also one of our higher roasted dancongs this year, having undergone multiple traditional charcoal roastings. This method of roasting lends a somewhat elusive quality to the tea that is often compared to Yanyun. While this quality is without a fixed definition, the oversimplified way of describing the effect of traditional processing is that it creates a more dynamic taste and fragrance, as well as deepens the energy/chaqi of the tea.
