I have been putting off this tasting note(s) for over a week now because I just did not want to write up four tasting notes for bubble tea companies, or even one in depth tasting note. So I’ve decided I’m not going to, since I did a big write up on instagram.
TLDR of it all? I spent a day of my vacation doing a “Bubble Tea Crawl” where I tried to drink as many bubbles teas, from different companies, that I could in a day. They were very filling, so I made it through four from these vendors:
- Secret Sucre
- Preso Tea
- Bao Bao Dimsum
- Chatime
There’ll probably be a part two, since I had more stops planned than these four. Maybe it’ll become an annual tradition!? Who knows!
Here’s the full instagram write up of it though, including photos of the bubble teas and what my order at each place was:

I love bubble tea, but I don’t think I could get through more than a couple in a day. It would be fun to do a crawl like that with a friend, though, with whom you could split drinks with!
If you ever find yourself in MTL with an afternoon to kill, I’d definitely be down for a round two!
I really want to visit Montreal… a friend’s husband is from there and I was hoping I could get him to give us the grand tour, but then kids happened (for both of us), and it just hasn’t worked out! If you’re in Montreal for a while though, I may see about visiting at some point, as I’d really like to drive out east for a vacation one summer, since I’ve only been as far out as Ottawa! And then, bubble tea (and/or other!) adventures would be fantastic.
Kittenna and Ros, youre always welcome to visit me. We can go to the plaza behind my house with 7 different bubble tea shops, most of which right next to each other.
That sounds amazing, but how would one ever burn off the calories from them without having to walk more than next door?! I kid. That sounds delightful. I’m looking forward to not being attached to my child every 3 hours and being able to leave him with someone else. Like his dad, for instance, while mommy has some fun!
However does SEVEN bubble tea shops stay afloat in one area? People can only drink so much bubble tea. Yowzas.
I mean, the area of town that I was in had five shops (we only made it to three, and then one by my house) – but I don’t even want to hazard a guess at how many there are in TOTAL within Montreal. It’s probably insane!
The bubble tea shops all do really well and more keep opening. We have well known ones such as Tea Shop 168, Chatime, Coco and the Alley. The others have something special that people come specifically for such as pokeballs tapioca or white rabbit bubble tea. There are even more across the street that all do well.
I’m in the state of NY and there are zero bubble tea shops around here… at least none that I’m aware of anyway!
