“Satrupa – Small Whole SFTGFOP 2nd flush Dry: clean, fruity-mulberry notes, earth, warm spice, hickory Wet: clean, mellow, sweet, tannic, tin Appearance: gorgeous leaf cut, mingled umber hued...” Read full tasting note
This is a complex tea from start to finish. The dry leaves are aromatic and have a faint dried apricot scent. When I pour the hot water, the apricot smell is volatile and dissipates rapidly. A subtle malty aroma follows. In the cup the malty smell has company – a pleasant “greener” aroma, not like green tea but somewhat like green plants.
This tea is more astringent and not quite as silky as Cream. Slurping it really accentuates the malty character. Allowing the tea to sit in your mouth allows the tannins to work – wow! this will make your cheeks tingle. It’s especially nice as the smell sensations combine with the mouth feels – but this is true in any good cup of tea.
