We stayed at several hotels over the course of the trip but on one of the mornings where we were less rushed we decided to check out a bubble tea shop that happened to be nearby the hotel we were at that morning. Most of their menu was pretty basic and overall they weren’t really a very impressive stop. I grabbed this one because it was the most “different” thing on the menu.
The drink came back a pale green that looked a bit like a washed out matcha beverage, though there was no matcha in it. The taste was surprisingly good though also incredibly sweet. Reminded me a little bit of coconut or pandan with that sort of creamy starchy quality. You could feel a little bit of the meal-y texture of the beans so, in that regard, it was nice to see it was made using actual mung bean and not just a flavour/powder.
Overall I would probably give this drink a pretty low rating based on all the many things we were able to try during the trip, but isolated and viewed on its own I thought it was acceptable.
