Yerp, I’m going to say it: I’ve found my thrill… and it’s Blueberry Hill Shou Mei. This is a crisp, refreshing shou mei white tea blended with real freeze-dried blueberries and organic flavors. No, it’s not as far out there as some of our blends. It’s not peanut butter, bacon, tuna fish sandwich on rye flavored tea. Just delicious, amazing blueberry flavor in our lovely hay-like shou mei.

This kind of satisfied my 52teas blueberry craving from the other day, though it probably would have been more effective had it been fresher. Still, it was good. A very basic blueberry white, but it did the trick well enough.

I should open my sampler and try it… I’m sure it’s the age of your blend, so maybe mine will still be good…

Yeah, pretty sure this was only blended the one time. So it’s likely your packet is okay. I don’t believe the white tea had any off-flavours, either (and my packet has been open for years, I’m sure).

Cold-brewed then poured on ice.

I’m heading into a direction: flavored teas are losing their appeal, I quickly move toward the threshold of purely drinking the unflavored. But if there are more blends like this I might not be turned off from flavored teas completely. I haven’t tried a cup of this hot, but it was mighty delicious each time I drank it cold.

I thought this would be bitter since the base tea leaves are pretty broken, but that wasn’t the case. The blueberry flavoring is strong yet light. It works very well with the shou mei – whose sweet grassy flavor I taste just a slight – and doesn’t taste at all artificial. Summer is blueberry time (actually blueberries), and after my first sips I could have sworn I’d just eaten some blueberries. The freeze-dried blueberries in the blend are nice touch in the dry leaf appearance.

I swing back and forth. I went through several months where I only drank unflavored, then went back to flavored.

Backlog:

This is a tasty blueberry blend. As I said in my full-length review of this tea – http://sororiteasisters.com/2014/10/18/blueberry-hill-shou-mei-white-tea-from-52teas/ – I can taste the blueberry and I can taste the shou mei. There’s a sweet, blueberry-ish goodness with a light, hay-like note from the Shou Mei.

Really good iced. This one is good for multiple infusions too.
