Apple Cinnamon Honeybush

This was a half ounce sample with my old 52Teas mystery teas. I swear I’ve had this one before, but I guess not. Maybe because there are so many apple teas from 52Teas? Or it is very similar to the Apple Caramel Honeybush since that one lacks in caramel what this one lacks in cinnamon. So essentially, they are both Apple Honeybush. The apple is plentiful here. Delicious delicious apple. But somehow there isn’t much cinnamon, even at boiling. I like it as an apple decaf blend though!

Anyway … I enjoyed this tea. 52Teas offered a lot of apple-y teas this past autumn/winter season and while I think that my favorite was the Apple Oatmeal one with the Darjeeling Oolong because that was seriously yum, this was still pretty tasty.

It’s pleasantly sweet without additives, it has a nice apple note and a zesty note of cinnamon that doesn’t overwhelm the cup. I like the light nutty tones of the honeybush and the hint of honeyed taste from the honeybush in this – it’s a really nice complement to the flavors.

When I drank it warm, it reminded me of apple cider. I didn’t like this as much as it cooled though. It’s much better hot.

New year, and I’m trying to get back into drinking teas (and maybe even finish off the teas I have in my cupboard—) but of course I had to try new flavors. So here’s this one.

First of all, the smell is absolutely wonderful. It smells like apple pie, but what else does apple and cinnamon together smell like? I’ve never been big on honeybush, but it’s a nice mellow taste that hugs you from the inside. Apple and cinnamon are always a great combination, and even though It’s not fall anymore it makes me feel all warm and cozy. It could easily be a comfort fall-time tea. I like it.

This is delicious. I normally love being punched in the face with cinnamon pretty much always, but this kind of tea makes me reconsider that feeling. It is very very apple-y, and the cinnamon is a bit of a flavorful but not overpowering presence. Just like if you baked apples. Mmmm.

This smells wonderful in the packet. The brewed taste is a bit more subtle, but this is one of the more flavorful honeybush blends that I’ve had. Really lovely and perfect for the season. I also like the honey/caramel taste contributed by the honeybush. While not sugar sweet, this tea does seem sweet to me. And, the apple taste is pretty authentic and has a great apply aftertaste.
