Ahhh Steepster you’re killing me with the non-updating dashboard.

So I have to write a fake inquiry letter, and I’m writing it to Frank, hahaha. I have no idea how to actually write it because I don’t have the book yet, thanks Amazon!!!

This is one of my favorite white teas for making iced. Usually I cold steep it, but I needed something to go with dinner and this was at the front of the cupboard, so in it went. I think I like it better cold steeped, but it’s good flash chilled too. There just doesn’t seem to be as much of the tequila flavoring. It’s very strawberry, with a nice hint of kiwi.

tattooed_tea

Yummy. It seems I have missed all the best teas.

LiberTEAS

@Tattooed_Tea: nah… Frank puts out a new tea every week, so … even if you’ve missed this one or that one … a new one will come out next week and it may even be his best yet. That’s what’s great about 52Teas, each new week is a new adventure in tea.

tattooed_tea

I know, but I never have money when a new one I want comes out. And then when I do there is none left of the ones I really want. I think I need to sign up for the monthly thing.

Since I ran across my packet of this at the same time as Strawberry Lemonade BMD, I decided to cold-brew some of it as well. I was never as fond of this one, possibly due to “tequila” flavouring, or just something being a bit off in the blend for me, but it’s still pretty good for iced tea. I also definitely ate a chunk of kiwi out of the bag last night. Mmmmmm, haha. In this blend, kiwi and the possible tequila flavour dominate, in my opinion. I may give this one a bit of sweetener later to see how it fares (whereas I was thinking to add a squeeze of lemon to Strawberry Lemonade…. yum).

this sounds yummy

Kittenna

Want a sample? It’s nearly gone but I can save a regular cup’s worth for you :)

Sil

sure heh

Kittenna

I’m thinking I should cold-brew some of that Blackberry Pomegranate Shou Mei…

Sil

i was thinking about that as well, though i haven’t tried hot brewing yet either…other teas have called to me first.

Kittenna

Ahh. It’s not too bad; I think I liked it well enough hot. Will probably attempt a cold brew of it soon though. Finding that even though the weather is super cruddy, sometimes I just want to suck back something cold.

wow thanks Azzrian! but wait, I was positive this is from Azzrian, it has your writing… and packaging style but it’s also in Amy’s cupboard and I just received a swap from both… and it was in your pile Azzrian. Oh jeeze, I am one confused lady haha. Somebody set me straight! I kept the packages in two different rooms so it’s impossible that they could have gotten mixed up. Right?! right???
Anyhow, on to the tea. Looooooove it!! Mmmmmm, this is really super tasty.
The flavour is rather unique, which is quite refreshing for a white. Reminds me of Ginger Sparkle from Tealish actually, with a kick of strawberry and something spicy. I can see how Kittena misinterpreted the lime as ginger. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was ginger in here as well. Or perhaps that is the tequila? either way, it’s rather tasty. and complex! I LOVE complex teas and this one is highly so. White tea, lime, strawberry, tequila… all rolled into one! I think I can find the kiwi but there is so much going on that I can’t be sure.
Thanks Azzrian! or Amy! I am such a spaz…

Azzrian

LOL well if the writing is in scribble its from me :P
Brown or red sharpie marker. Doesn’t matter though – you liked it and that is what counts!

Indigobloom

I am pretty sure it was from you. I just didn’t see your review and then saw Amys and got paranoid!

TeaBrat

Not from this Amy!

Kittenna

If you enjoy this one this much, I might bring you a bit more from mine… it’s just not my favourite.

Azzrian

Yeah I didn’t care for this one too much but have yet to cold steep it so withheld rating it.

Kittenna

It’s better cold-steeped, IMO.

Indigobloom

Amy- phew, thanks!!
Kittena- I’ll try it iced next. If I remember lol. How much do you have? might be best to swap it out… I’ll never finish it all before it goes stale and that’s the stuff I have!
Azzrian- ah! makes sense now. I suspect it’d be great iced as well

Wow, I love this. Thanks Azzrian. I’ve been on a big white tea kick lately, it’s just so pure, refreshing and relaxing and this is the first flavored white that I’ve had and I think it’s fantastic. The kiwi and strawberry tastes very natural and combines well with the white tea and yes, I can taste a little tequila in there too! There is also a subtle natural sweetness, so no sugar needed! This is delicious, and it’s unfortunate that they don’t have it anymore because I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

Bonnie

I want to know how the headache is doing? You had us so worried about you!

Scatterbrain

The headaches are still going strong every morning when I wake up. They keep me lying in bed for a couple hours every day. Still haven’t been able to see a doctor.

Bonnie

U have to go!

Scatterbrain

I know, it’s out of my hands right now.

mmmm sipdown! Thank you kittenna for sharing the last little bit of your pouch with me :) This is another refreshing light tea that has made me smile tonight. I can pick out the strawberry flavour and a lime…this really does come across as having tequila in here. a win in the 52 teas bucket! :)

Kittenna

Yeah, this one was pretty good for icing/cold-brewing!

Sipdown #44

Thanks to my husband, this has finally become a sipdown! It’s funny, the last time I tried this tea, he was only my boyfriend. Now he’s my hubby. ;)

My love let me have a sip and it was significantly more drinkable than I remember. It mostly tastes like kiwi and Bai Mu Dan now. No more rancid funk from whatever that tequila flavoring was. Nevertheless, I’m going to leave the rating unchanged, although I’d probably rate this particular cup around 65.

My first reaction to this when I opened the pouch was “WOW! This smells like starburst!” Yes, the candy. It has a very sweet, fruity candy kind of smell to it. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, since I happen to like starburst, but, I was not sure how well that would translate into a tea.

Normally when I steep a white tea, I steep it low and slow … 160 to 170 degrees F and for four to five minutes. I tried this tea the other night using those parameters and I didn’t taste as much flavor as I had expected to, especially after the strong dry leaf fragrance that made me think I was in for a very strawberry-ish, Kiwi-esque tea. So, tonight I steeped it at 170 for six full minutes, and am much happier with the result.

I can taste the strawberry and the kiwi … and yes, it does taste sweet kind of like a starburst…. but I am actually liking it. I don’t taste much tequila until the end of the sip and into the aftertaste. The Bai Mu Dan is not a strong flavor either, but then again, it usually is a delicate flavor.

Overall, I’m happy with this tea.

Thanks to LiberTeas for sending me a sample of this…

I decided to steep this for 3 minutes instead of the recommended five because I just don’t steep white teas for that length of time. I might need to give it a bit of a longer run next time.

I am finding this to be nice and fruity but I’m not sure I’m digging the tequila flavoring some how, it seems to be obfuscating my experience of this blend… This is pretty decent but I appreciated the mango papaya bai mu dan a bit more yesterday. Then again, it’s been ages since I had a margarita and tequila was never my favorite booze. I might need to cold steep the rest of this to see what happens!

I appreciate Frank’s creativity and can hardly wait to see what he comes up with every week!

Backlogging. I got this tea from Kittenna I while back thank you very much. Dry this smells abit fruity and steeped this smells stronger fruityness. I added some sugar. And this tastes like a light to medium strawberry taste with a little kiwi and a good pleasant white tea. I think this tea is really good.
