Tea of the Week for June 6, 2022!
A couple of months ago, I made a Raspberry Parfait tea & I started thinking: why not blackberries? I tend to prefer blackberries to raspberries (I still love raspberries, but I love blackberries even more) – so I decided to go for it & here it is! Blackberry Parfait black tea!
The black tea base is bold & richly flavored & provides a really nice background for the flavors of the creamy custard & the blackberries to express themselves. A sweet & delicious tea time treat that’s also organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergen-friendly & all natural!
organic ingredients: black teas, blackberries, vanilla beans, calendula petals & natural flavors
more about this tea: YUM! This tea has a really nice balance of flavors: the black tea is robust & invigorating (it would make a really nice tea to get you started in the morning!) The blackberry is sweet & juicy tasting. The custard-y “parfait” is creamy, sweet & melds beautifully with the blackberries & black tea.
So nice!
to brew: shake the pouch well to ensure you get an even distribution of ingredients in your measurement. Use 3g of leaf to 12oz of nearly boiling water (205°F) & allow to steep for 3 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 10 minutes. Enjoy!
I do recommend that you watch the steep time carefully, I’ve tested this a couple of times and the best results occur when I keep to the 3 minutes closely or even a few seconds before the 3 minutes expire. When it oversteeps, bitterness will deveilop.
serving suggestion: I enjoyed this tea hot with no additions. I found that if I added a half a teaspoon of sugar or honey, the creamy custard notes popped so I think I prefer this one sweetened because those notes of custard are really delicious. It’s awesome with just a drizzle of raw honey!
I haven’t tried this one iced, but there was one taste test where it cooled off a bit more than I had planned on (read: I forgot I brewed some tea and it cooled down completely) and it was still really good – so I suspect this one will be a winner iced!
