Description

Just as the design of a glass can enhance the taste and aroma of wine, so the different forms of these three tea cups allow us to enjoy different teas at their very best.

1660 LONDON announced the launch of their Peter-Ting designed tea tasting cups at the 2012 World Tea Expo, where the cups were awarded a Best New Product Award.

Green Tea Cup – The gently curved sides of the cup enhance the rich umami textures of a green tea, from a nutty Chinese Dragon Well to a vegetal Japanese Sencha.

Oolong Tea Cup – This tall cup with a small diameter at the top is designed to capture and concentrate the aromatics of oolong tea. Reminiscent of a smelling cup from the Chinese Gong Fu Tea Ceremony, this cup will enhance your sensory exploration of any oolong tea.

Black Tea Cup – The deep vertical sides of this cup and slightly curved bottom collects the heavier base notes of black teas and allows the aromatic qualities of the tea to be appreciated through the nose. Finally, a cup that helps you capture the fleeting aromatic notes of a Fujian Gold Monkey, the stone-fruit essences of a First Flush Darjelling or the bold and peppery spice of an Estate Assam.

Peter Ting is an award winning ceramic designer and consultant, who has worked for over 20 years within the luxury sector. He has designed state gifts for HM The Queen, and ‘Lord of the Isles’ chinaware for HRH The Prince of Wales. He is a trustee of the British Crafts Council. Collections of his work are in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London UK, and Museum of Art and Design, New York USA.
