drank Vanilla Mint Mate by 52teas

This is an interesting cuppa. I normally don’t care for mate, but I love the combo of vanilla and mint so I took a chance. You can barely taste the mate base, which I love – but people who like mate may not like that fact. The flavors of vanilla and mint are both prominent, so you can taste both individually, yet the blending of both is phenomenal. I’d recommend this one for an AM cuppa: it’s caffeine-charged and the flavor is tasty.

This is such a fragrant cuppa. I love the peach and strawberry flavors, and love the aroma as it is steeping. You can do at least two infusions too, which is always nice. (Gotta stretch that tea budget dollar!) Please see other notes; this is a fave.

I’m ending the afternoon with this cuppa. I really like the medley of berry flavors and the hint of lemon. I did add sugar to cut the stringency, but that’s a personal choice. Love the aroma on this one too. I’ll have to try iced.

Still one of my faves no matter how often I brew. I let it steep well over 30 minutes (had a last minute meeting) and the result? A spicy, flavorful cuppa.

Upped the rating on this one. As tomorrow is St. Paddy’s Day, and I am full-blooded Irish (maiden name is Fitzpatrick), I thought this was apropos. This is a brisk wake-up cuppa, which I need on this grimy gray day.

Deliciousness. I need this today. Mixes well with Bohemian Rhapsody, which is on my Spotify right now. :)

Enjoying a cuppa to settle my tummy. This, plus a little Slipknot and lots of Marilyn Manson are helping me feel better.

This tea is great iced as well. Or, well, not hot, as I got talking about Lost Girl and Pretty Little Liars with a coworker and forgot about my tea.

It’s been one of those days.

I blame the solar flare.

Feeling out of sorts lately. This one is keeping me grounded today. Love the spicy taste and the hearty warmth of the flavors. Yums!

No rating as this is my own blend.

I really enjoy this. It’s not too tart (I’m not a fan of that sour, bitter, hibiscus-ness), and the lemongrass and green rooibos citron really cut that taste. I added a little sugar too since I’m addicted to sugar.

I steeped for about five minutes to get the max flavor. I think this would be great iced – haven’t tried it yet.

PM me if you want a sample! :)

I did a custom blend too…and I love the fact that you can do this! What a hoot! I even uploaded my own photo and named it Frontrange Winter…we’re into the Winter frame of mind I guess.

Tried this one hot again. I’m still not sold. I think it really is better iced. I’ll save it for warmer weather. Drinking it hot reminds me of Theraflu. Not hating on Theraflu, but that’s not what I want to drink when I’m aiming for tea. ;)

Hello fellow tea fans!
I’ve been a tea enthusiast for years but just recently started brewing my own. I’ve created some blends, and enjoy researching about new teas. I combined my love of tea and writing to create a tea-devoted blog, Keen Tea Thyme. I have been writing for most of my life and am a former journalist with a degree in Communications and Social Psychology, and a minor in Writing. Journalism is in my blood, so that means I’m inquisitive by nature, will double-check sources and/or get a second opinion as needed, but also fair and balanced in my reviews. If my reviews seem more positive, energetic and have high ratings, it’s because I love tea. :)

If you are a tea company, I’d love to review some your tea! Free samples are always welcome so I can fully enjoy the freshest selections. I’m also open to tea swaps as I always have too many teas on hand to drink & would love to share with other tea enthusiasts! :)

My Simple Rating Scale (as of Feb. 2011)
>50: I’m NOT a fan. I could barely finish the cup, if I even did. I wouldn’t even recommend this to my worst enemy. Not worth my time nor yours.

51-65: Good aroma, good flavor. Just nothing pops to give the tea that special kick. Recommended to try; our tasting palates differ.

66-79: Yes, finally, tea – unique flavor profiles, great aroma & flavor. Recommended to try; our tasting palates differ.

80-99: These are cupboard essentials – delicious, aromatic and perfect everyday teas. Re-steepable (beyond at least one steeping). Highly recommended, fun for all ages.

100: These are my favorites, the ones I would take with me if stranded on a desert island. Beyond Highly Recommended.
