16936 Tasting Notes
I brewed this up really funny. The water was a weird, low temperature (like 70 degrees celsius) and then I got caught up doing something and left it to steep for like seven minutes. It still smells really good, though!
Taste wise, I mostly get the typical black tea base from 52Teas. The rest is a very buttery root beer/cream soda combo. It’s ok, but I’m not in love either. I’m surprised this is as good as it is though despite my weird steeping parameters.
Made a small amount of this in cold milk. I may have used a bit too much matcha; it’s really strong.
I’m trying to catch up to VariaTEA! Everytime I make a new batch I notice that she’s made more too. Blerg. I think part of it is that I’m accustomed to drinking large amounts at a time though (8 or 10 oz. mugs and a few 12 oz. timolinos full). Smaller cups would allow me to get through more tea quicker…
haha I like how you are devising strategy now. I typically sit in my room however I decided this morning I could make tea faster if I sat in the kitchen by the kettle. Thus I am sitting at my kitchen table doing work and as my cups get low, I start the kettle.
Heh. I’m trying to catch up to you two… and doing the same thing. Brewing as I get low, and small cups as well. ;)
Part of what’s driving me crazy is my tooth too – I’m in so much pain right now that it’s getting incredibly hard for me to drink anything because of the sensitivity. But, I have no idea how to go about finding a dentist and, even if I did find one, no way to pay them.
Right now I’m in too much pain to physically eat or drink anything, so if that doesn’t let up then I may have to humbly bow out of our competition – despite the fact I’d love to continue. Like, it’s so bad and I’m so close to being broke that I’m currently googling how to pull your own tooth, and if that doesn’t yield satisfying results then my pay from my day at Tea Desire may go towards some alcohol to numb the area.
My brother once decided to yank a tooth out with pliers. I DO NOT recommend it. There has to be a way you can get in to see a dentist.
Mug a mug full of this with lots of milk. I’ve written a ton of long notes about this, so not much to add at all. Though, I steeped in for close to half an hour and it just made everything so strong and pronounced.
Mmm!
I want to love this as much as you do. Me and this tea really did not get along though. It made me so sad because I had such high hopes for it.
Steeped up a concentrated batch of this because I was really craving coconut. I may have steeped too long because this was just a touch bitter – but it really did go a long way towards satisfying that craving.
i have a bunch of it.. and given how the malibu white i tried had gone bad, i would love to send you some so that it doesn`t go bad!
Received this sample from VariaTEA who I know recieved it originally from someone else (can’t remember who, though).
The one other time I had this was as a tea soda, though today I’m trying it in cold milk. I remember not being super impressed with this as tea soda, though I do like it just slightly more this way. I only used 1/2 tsp. so the taste is quite light – but it sort of gives off the impression of having a bubble gum milkshake, and I do enjoy those…
Bubblegum milkshake…hmm…. At first I was going to say that sounds weird but then I thought about it and I love bubblegum ice cream (especially Laura Secords! I was obsessed as a child) so a bubblegum milkshake isn’t that far a stretch.
Also, it was Cavo who sent this my way. She is like my matcha dealer. Her and Sil. Although now I have taken it upon myself to stop mooching off them and place my own order.
Had another small cup of the cold brewed batch of this after getting home. Nothing new to add about it, just wanted to log it because of the tasting note competition between VariaTEA and I.
Cold maybe wasn’t a great idea – my tooth is still killing me and is being hyper sensitive.
My tooth is back to driving me crazy again! It started hurting about twenty minutes before I left Tea Desire, but now it’s just flat out intolerable.
Anyway, made this in the morning in a timolino and drank part of it during the day, though I still have most of it to sip on. This was just a standard cup of it and wasn’t prepared unusually so I don’t have anything to add about the taste.
I sent some out to VariaTEA so hopefully she enjoys it too.
Preparation
Made in my timolino this morning and sipped on all day long. I didn’t realize how much I missed this one until making it today and falling in love all over again. It’s like drinking a mug of hot fruit loops, which I realise maybe doesn’t sound appetizing but it actually is really, really good.
Preparation
This was the featured tea at Tea Desire today, so I enjoyed a few small little glasses of it. It’s one that’s been on my list to try for a while now, so I think it worked out well that I got to enjoy it all day long.
Taste wise, I thought that the flavours were all quite strong. Mostly I was just really impressed by how strong the vanilla flavouring was because I find that cinnamon can cover up a lot of flavours very easily. But this was nice, and well balanced. Of course I have no clue how it was prepared since I wasn’t the one who prepared it nor was I there when it was being prepared.
I have Della Terra’s Cinnamon Bun right now so I don’t think I’d need both of these – but I’d heavily consider getting this instead of Cinnamon Bun once I’m out of that one.
Why do you find them strong and I found it weak? Weird. Also your tasting note about Cinnamon Star is directly after mine which makes me laugh.
I got Cream Soda from this.
I’m pretty new to steepster and I wanted to let you know I really enjoy reading your tea logs ! ;) As for this particular tea, I couldn’t help but go crazy when I saw there was a tea called “Butterbeer”. God, I need to try this :)
There are actually a few Butterbeer teas from different companies. The stuff you learn on steepster…
Aw thanks, I’m glad you enjoy them! :)
Oh wow. Thank you for letting me know there are a few of them. I’ll have to investigate !
