New Tasting Notes
I got this tea in a trade and was really curious. It’s a very green oolong, with a truly unique flavor. I can’t say I like it in large doses, and I couldn’t stand it cold, but it’s definitely worth trying. It brews up pale yellow and tastes… “purple”. It’s hard to describe, really. There’s a vegetal oolong taste, but mostly… it just tastes purple. The tea itself is lovely to look at, however… lots of green, blue, and yellow.
This is my all-time favorite tea, hands down. There is something just deeply soothing to me about it. I catch myself sniffing my canister of it because it smells so delicious. I can’t say the taste is pure plum, though. I think there’s a hint of vanilla and something else. I just can’t get enough of it.
It’s a real shame they don’t make it anymore… I guess other people didn’t find it as amazing as I did. I’m glad I got a pound of it before it was all gone!
This is a tea my mom got me a while ago that I haven’t tried yet. I brewed one bag in approximately one cup of boiling water (using a pre-warmed mug) for 5 minutes. The smell doesn’t seem too strong; it’s about a third as strong as I remember the loose-leaf chamomile I drink being. Now, I did have a hunk of cheddar cheese about half an hour ago, so this might be affecting my taste, but it seems quite weak in terms of flavor as well. It definitely is light and clean, but it comes quite close to “drinking hot water” territory. Perhaps the flavor will become stronger as the tea cools.
As of now, I neither like it nor dislike it.
According to the package, “A single cup of Tazo Calm has been known to have the same effect as sitting for 45 minutes in a mountain meadow on a sunny day with your shoes off.” If you ask me, it just tasted like spearmint. Three sips in, I poured this down the sink.
