New Tasting Notes
Genmaicha with matcha added to it is one of my favorite kinds of tea. I’ve tried this particular one before and enjoyed it so will give it a thumbs up. I made a good size travel mug to take to work this morning and noticed a surprising yet slight fishy taste that I had not gotten last time I had some. I was quite disturbed and intrigued by it! I’m anxious to try this again, brewed properly instead of quickly in my old ingenuiTEA that is on its last leg. Otherwise, still a great taste and will continue to enjoy it.
I’ve tried this a few times and today was probably my best experience with it. You can smell the cardamom and ginger from pretty far away, and the spice is there, but not overpowering. It tastes slightly medicinal, but not necessarily in a bad way if it that makes any sense at all.
Maybe it’s just that the pu-erh in this tea bag is extra mellow, but perhaps the chrysanthemum petals have the effect of banishing the barnyard aspects of the pu-erh. However it happens, this is a light amber liquid with nice earthiness and a subtle floral aroma. Boiling water, scant 3 min steep. I like this. Nice change of pace. Got it in a sampler — might buy it sometime.
