I took inventory of my teas and grabbed this out with plans of gong fu brewing it tbh. However, I had less than 2g of the tea so I went with Western brewing in a small mug instead.

It cooled because my smaller mugs are shallow and wide so I am sipping it now and remembering it is not my favorite. The CTC makes for a more dry tea with the caramel being less sweet and more dark. I want more sweet and less astringent but that’s not what I got.

Thank you Sil for the sample. This tea did catch my attention so it is nice to know I wasn’t missing out on my next favorite by not buying it.

Like Roswell Strange I am pretty meh about this one. There is berry and maybe a sweetness that could be caramel but really caramel and cheesecake are MIA. Thank you Kittenna for the sample but this just wasn’t anything special.

Another sample from Kittenna. Thank you!

This one is nice but not nearly as good as Lime Pear Fluff. This is much more subtle with flavors which allows the white tea to come out a bit more. Personally, I don’t love that but for some that could definitely be a positive.

Besides the white tea, I get coconut and lemon. Faint and sweet lemon as opposed to the actual fruit flavor or cleaning supplies. The softer lemon blends nicely with the coconut which is not lotiony but also not overly sweet or creamy. Again, this might be a positive for some but I would prefer a bit more.

All in all, it is okay but this is a tea I am okay not being able to have more of. Thank you for the chance to try it though, Kittenna!

I took a bit of this from Kittenna (thank you!) and now I am sad. So, so sad. Why?! Because it is so, so good! Lime? Check. Pear? Check. Fluff? Check. All there. All balanced. All delicious. Why did I have to find this AFTER AQ2T shut down? Why?! Hence the sadness. I love it. It reminds me of Butiki’s similar tea. Also can’t get that anymore. And now I can’t get this. Still grateful to have gotten to try it. A nice tea to sip on as I watch Falling Inn Love back in my own apartment.

Glad you enjoyed! Could have sworn I had read this note and commented before, but apparently not…

So I have not been drinking much tea lately but today I am moving back to London and I think once I am there, with my tea kettle in my line of vision constantly, I will get back into it.

With that said, a couple days back I was craving bubble tea. I prefer the alley but my brother, who was having bubble tea with me, is not a fan so we decided to try something new. We went woth a company called Boba Boy for no other reason than I liked their logo.

Upon searching their menu, we discovered watermelon milk tea does in fact exist (my friend has been saying that watermelon milk tea is her favorite but at the dozens of reputable bubble tea places we go to we couldn’t find it). My brother went with the watermelon and I went with strawberry milk tea with mango popping boba and green apple jelly. I may have gotten excited and went a bit overboard with the many options.

Upon arrival of the bubble tea, i saw that bubble boy was owned by Tea Shop 168 and it dawned on me why they had such rare options. Tea Shop 168 is the place all the teens who don’t know better go to. They think they are drinking bubble tea but its basically just gross powder drinks. Boba Boy also does those gross powder drinks it turns out because mine was so bad I think I drank maybe a quarter of my regular sized cup and gave up. It was so, so bad. So won’t be ordering from there again.

Still drinking this because the cold brew bottle is 750 mL. So I had some with dinner and topped it with strawberry peach juice. It was better that way but still not my favorite.

Got this in the Christmas in July sale and used it to christen the cold brew bottle I also grabbed in the sale.

While I love the bottle, this tea is less awesome. It’s sort of blueberry on the front end but then it gives way to that artificial peach that is reminiscent of the Tim Hortons peach juice. It starts off promising but ends up being waxy and a little chemical.

It’s blue and it’s bland. I will try it another time. Perhaps not iced. We shall see.

I iced this and added strawberry peach juice. The juice really takes over but the green tea is fighting to come through. Not my favorite.

I drank this one two days ago. :D

It’s nice. Just not so nice with Strawberry Peach Juice.

…and its a forever sipdown in light of the indefinite hiatus.

This last cup is particularly creamy. With the typical honey flavor from AQ2T that works really well in this cuppa. A good way to say good bye but a sad sipdown indeed.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
