464 Tasting Notes
I got an oz of this and an oz of Mom’s Apple pie when I bought a Timolino recently. I like these pearls. 4 to my cup at work seems to be a good thing. 3 is too weak. I like how the black tea and jasmine in this seem to bring out some cocoa flavors- at least to me. I never really like jasmine in combo with green tea, but with black tea it’s heavenly.
What a beautiful tea! I love their shape and hw they blossom out when steeped. The flavor was very much like vegetable soup- I do pick up artichoke and spinach. It is the teensiest bit creamy and there is a distinctive, but light citric note. It also tastes very mineral toward the end of the cup.
I haven’t had this one in a while, but decided to try it with a little bit of honey and coconut almond milk. It’s good, but I think I really need to try this one with real milk at least once no matter if it drives my stomach a little crazy. Also I’m really liking teas with guranse bases. I need to try some straight ones.
Thanks, Nicole_Martin for this tea. This is pretty darn smoky! I drank the first half of the cup unsweetened and smoke was all I got. After reading Lala’s recent note, I added honey to the second half and the lemon flavor really popped! I may be getting a little blueberry in the background, but I may be imagining it just because I’m trying so hard to detect it. I don’t usually like smoky teas, but this one isn’t so bad.
Obviously I didn’t read the descriptin before trying this. Here I am expecting basically one- note cinnamon kind of flavor, spicy and warm. When I sipped it I was surprised my the coolness of mint! It is a cosy blend, but I think I’ll have to have this again when I’m in the mood for mint.
However this actually does go pretty well with the fig muffins I made this morning. Hmmm…
Then I shouldn’t mention I’m going to try to make figgy pudding next week? We have too many figs on the tree out back right now. I need to use them all up!
This is a very enjoyable! It is very roasty and savory, but at the same time there is sweet vegetal quality to it. It is more complex than any other genmaicha I’ve had. The only deterrant in this for me is the drymouth it leaves behind. It gets to be unpleasant towards the end of the cup
First hot toddy of the fall! I’m really enjoying trying plum teas lately and I really like this one It worls well with rum. Now I’m cozied up for the evening with my kindle and mug.
Thanks, Nicole_Martin for a packet of the Spinach Chive Flavor!
Good Golly Miss Molly this was salty! I felt like I was drinking soup created with too much bouillon. And I like salty things, but this was just a bit too much after the first couple of ounces. If I have this again, I will have a very small cup of it at one time.
I LOVE spinach. It’s my second favorite veggie next to potatoes, so I was excited to have a spinach tea. This was heavy on the chives and onion, so the spinach and green tea was kind of lost to those flavors. At one point the chives were so strong my eyes actually watered! -And yet I kept drinking it…
This makes a nice soup broth (though I would add some more spinach and maybe some rice to it), but as a tea? I dunno.
