Urth is one of the cafes that someone in my office recommended we check out. We didn’t actually end up going to see them in person, but on one of the mornings I did order from them on Uber Eats to the hotel instead of having hotel breakfast that day.
I ended up getting a butternut squash and ricotta pizza that was incredible as well as the best slice of carrot cake that I’ve had in probably years. Since they’re a coffee spot their tea options were limited past the standard matcha latte and London Fog, but this one caught my eye because it was a mix of hot chocolate, matcha, and espresso. I don’t think I’d order it again (if I lived in the area) but I was surprised how cohesive the flavours were. It tasted like all three ingredients, though the dark chocolate flavours and roastiness of the espresso were still probably stronger than the matcha. I don’t know if the combination of these three things is a popular thing, but it was my first time seeing it so I just thought that it was interesting – busy as the mix may have been.
I love the way this tea smells, which is why I bought it. I was almost underwhelmed by the taste when I brewed it because of how good it smelled, but I’m on my third cup, and it’s now won me over. It tastes pretty great, and quite different from other vanillas. It also has recognizable pieces of vanilla bean in it.
