Backlogging from yesterday. Ok, so I know I said in my Sinharaja post that this wasn’t in the database, but, honestly, how am I supposed to keep up if they keep changing the name?

So I got 5 bags of this and 5 bags of peppermint and eucalyptus from a friend whose friend had given it to HER, but she didn’t like tea. The fact that this is labeled “fresh and fruity” rather than herbal revive makes me think it must have been a souvenir from England or something. Oh well, her loss = my gain.

So, thing is, I love currants. I love eating fresh red currants (not that I get to very often what with most of the US being ignorant of their existence), I love black currant flavored stuff, especially juice, but jam is also up there. My relationship with vanilla, on the other hand, is rocky at best. Still, I was cautiously optimistic. And, at first, it was great! Super fruity, with the creaminess of the vanilla offsetting the blackcurrant tang. But then…everything changed…I was having lunch with a friend outside so there was really no good way to get rid of the teabag, so I just left it in. BIG mistake. The nice light currant flavored changed into this heavy generalized vegetal doom thing, that, when mixed with vanilla was just…not good. Also, it left my mug determined to smell like currant.

Despite my bad experience, this was a super tasty tea, and is, seriously, just asking to be combined with a neutral black tea (see: my Sinharaja post), chilled and served as Super Tasty Currant Tea Juice!

I’ve done this to myself several times now: I get the Twinings “Fruit & Herbal Infusion Selection” box, use up all of the Blackcurrant, Ginseng & Vanilla sachets, and find myself left with five-sixths of a box of tea. Once I lucked onto a whole box of just the good stuff, but they’re really hard to find!

Which is to say, this is a decent tea. A bit sharp, but for once (thank goodness!) not in a rosehippy hibiscussed way. I do like it! It’s just, you know, not actually why I buy the box.

drank Pure Green Tea by Twinings

Weather has been such that I’ve been keeping a warm cup in hand constantly, and as a result, caffeinated myself into a fizz over the weekend. Trying to scale it down a bit, and this is a nice, office-friendly, error-resistant departure from full black caffeinated.

Light, tasty, and smooth; not heavily green or vegetable-y.

I like this as a refresher, often chilled in the Spring and Summer.

This is my favorite tea, and I drink it constantly when I’m at home. I’ve only ever drunk the bagged, but I’m considering getting a tin of loose shipped over. As for the bagged: it’s just light, sweet and interesting. A lot of citrus and a great aroma. In my experience, it is nearly impossible to overbrew the bagged version with not-too-hot water. You can leave the bag in indefinitely without any bitterness.

Had this one few night ago.
Well it’s bit spicy. Tastes very Indian :) Basically they gave it a perfect name that says it all. I’m not a huge fan of very spiced teas. Specially cloves. Had enough of those in the Christmas tea blend that I bought couple months back. But it ain’t bad. Prefer more herbal taste and less spice taste tho. Average rating. More than drinkable…

drank English Breakfast by Twinings

Ok this is the bagged version.

For me, this tea is nothing special. It works to satisfy my tea craving but other then that, I find I can just as easily drink something else. I ended up with a huge box of it and I will finish it but I’m not sure I’ll buy again. Though if the leaf is better perhaps I’ll give it a shot.
The other thing about this, when I tried to use the bag a second time, that very much did not work. Again, I’m not sure if it’s just the bagged but it tasted so dirty that after one sip, I dumped the cup (which I rarely do).
So, this is a tea I’ll have if offered, I’ll finish my remaining tea bags, but it will be a one cup per back deal.

Found this while trying to find something with caffeine in my friend’s suite. I half remember drinking this when I was little, but I don’t remember how I drank it. Anyway, Darjeeling is a nice light tea, definitely not a heavy breakfast tea. I might want to get a box for myself to replace my Bigelow English Teatime.
