I’m usually not much of a drinker of black teas, but I needed a certain boost earlier and found myself turning to Irish Breakfast Tea as my first resort. I definitely tasted the malt in the tea, and found it strong, but in a way that wasn’t too over-bearing. Mixing it with a bit of vanilla soy milk definitely toned it down to perfection for me, but this will certainly be something I’ll be drinking in the morning to keep me going!
Preparation
Very poor quality tea. I enjoy Darjeeling, and if you manage to make this tea JUST so, it has all of the classic muscadet flavours, with just a hint of ginger and spice in there. But it gets bitter very quickly, has a tonne of sediment in it, does not stand up to repeat steepings, and has to be made in exactly the right way not to taste terrible. (Not to mention that it can’t be stored – it lost its flavour over about a month). Would not buy again.
Preparation
I got a handful of tea bags that said “Orange Bliss” in a raffle prize (won by my boyfriend, which he then gave to me. What a love!) at a Halloween party, and I figure this must be the same thing, since it’s the same brand. At any rate, I very much enjoyed this tea. No milk, just sugar, and it was very good. I found the orange to be very evident, but certainly not overpowering. I may just pick up a box of this at some point.
P.S. Also part of the raffle gift was a black pedestal style mug that said “Trick or Treat” on it. WIN!
Preparation
“to complement the traditional, hearty English Breakfast”
Tried to cut some carbs this morning so I left out some of the “traditional” items, but this sure complimented my eggs and sausage quite well. I think my personal taste is towards the black teas, I enjoy the oolongs, whites, and greens I have tried, but I always want to get back to that ingrained “tea” taste. Only the blacks do that for me.
Turns out it is good for breakfast as stated…whole wheat tortilla, some scrambled eggs, cheese and salsa. Not exactly the tradtional “English Breakfast” but works for me.
I love the depth of flavor this tea has, the aftertaste stays then draws you back to the cup for more…I am noticing that in the teas I like, almost magical.
I love this tea, actually drink it often even though I have not logged. I love the aftertaste, it lingers long after a sip goes down. The finish of this and Darjeeling are close. I was somewhat surprised to see that this is no longer offered in England. I still have so much to learn about tea!
Keeping that black trend going today…every sip induces a pause and moment of reflection…the color of this tea is perfect, a deep dark amber. Through the sip there is a swiriling of lightness, to slight astringency, then a smooth aftertaste.
