A sample from Miss B! I seem to be in the mood for sweetish things this morning, so my second cup of the day is this one. I used 1 tsp of leaf for my cup, which seems to be about a 60/40 mix of peppermint and black tea, with a few marigold petals and a scattering of white chocolate chips. I gave it 3.5 minutes in boiling water, and added a splash of milk which I hoped would help to notch up the creaminess.

I’m not disappointed! This is a pretty perfectly balanced blend of mint and white chocolate, so it more than lives up to its name. The initial sip is sweet and creamy, very reminiscent of white chocolate and not at all cloying or oily. The peppermint comes out as a coolness in the mid-sip, and then as a more distinctive mint flavour in and of itself towards the end.

I’m happy with this one. It’s another great dessert tea, sweet and flavourful without being too rich or overdone. I’m glad to have had the opportunity to try it.

I find it amusing how this tea has made quite the trip: to the West Coast, then to rural Alberta, only to wind up back in its birthplace. Thanks for throwing this in the parcel, MissB! I haven’t even been to this store yet since it’s a little out of the way for people who don’t have vehicles.

It could have been my steeping parameters that have done this, but for a White Monkey, this is quite vegetal. I also haven’t had a White Monkey in quite a while so I’m not even sure what to expect from one anymore. The peach is subtle, very nice and not too artificial. However, the ginger is nonexistent. Aww, was hoping for just a little bit. I wouldn’t buy more of this one but this tea has indeed reminded me that, oh yeah, this place exists and I still need to check it out.

Was drinking this last night.
I didn’t get much chocolate, and as for the chili – just lots of peppercorns, so it was spicy, but not really chili.
It was nice to try buy not a favorite.

SSTTB #11.

This is a nice chai as well. No chili, but lots of chai flavours with a strong base. This was a good choice this evening, even though it’s hot and hot tea is not exactly what I’m craving. I might make up more of this and ice it. There’s certainly enough in the box. :)

I’m always looking for a good chai. I’m actually surprised at how much I like this one. The spices are subtle but well balanced. The vanilla is present but not overwhelming. Very solid chai. Thinking about making some and putting it in the fridge to cool. I think this will be good cold….

eep! Sorry MissB this is not one for me. I tried brewing this in milk today to see if i could get rid of the weird bitterness that i wasn’t a fan of when brewed in water – it didn’t help enough. For sure the taste was improved but the spices are just the wrong ratio/blend for me. Glad to have tried it though!

MissB

My thoughts exactly on this one. Had hoped someone else could do it justice!

Sil

haha well at least we both tried!

I’m going to have to give this one another shot. Maybe i’ll prepare it like traditional chai next time to see if that works better. Brewed as a tea, not in milk, this is a bit bitter with a weird after taste. I’ll try it as a milk brewed chai and see if that makes it all better, since some chais are meant to be milk, miilk, milk, milk, milk!

drank Ginger Lime by The Tea Place

i tried this one cold brewed for the hell of it. Turns out that was also a good idea as this is ALSO tasty as a cold brew. this is like everything good that i like about lime gelato without the extra sugar AND with a kick of something else going on in the background that makes this tastier and more fun. I’m really enjoying this one, so i may need to look at picking up some more in the future. Thanks for sharing this one missB!

Preparation
Iced 8 min or more

I’m going to convince my friend in Edmonton to grab more (a lot more, I went through it fast) and send it on over, so I’ll grab extra for you if you’d like.

i drinked this tonight. Anna made me silly and now i’m not sleepy. and then i was a puppy and an otter and ZOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! apparently we’re all a bunch of crazies

but anyway…the tea? it smells a lot like lime gelato from David’s tea…which happens to be 1 of 3?4?5? teas i’ve ever really enjoyed enough to buy from David’s. I know..that’s crazy talk around here but i am not a fan of a lot of their blends for the price, sugar added etc….

ANYWAY…. this is very similar but not as sweet, a hint of ginger in the background (not enough though!!!!) and still tasty-licious! thanks missb!

Final Count: 150 booyah! (20 to go….)

Sounds like you had a fun night ;-)

MissB

Leave it to steep way too long, and the ginger gets perfectly awesome. Glad you liked it though!

Sil

Oh yeah it was taaaaasty!

Sami Kelsh

Wheeeeeeeeeee this sounds like the best evening ever.

Anna

You are ALL the animals.

Anna

Today, for example, I have found you to be a snayle.

Anna

Snale?

Anna

Snayle.

Spelling hard.

Sil

i like to think i;m more of a snayle than a snail

Anna

“Snail”? What’s that?

But yes, you’re a snayles for sure.

I remember coveting this last year, but I think it’s time to share… so packing up a bit for others to enjoy. Love doing that, especially when it’s a tea I know few can get their hands on (blended in a store in Edmonton, Alberta… yes they ship, but who would know to look for that, unless they’d been to the store?)

Anyway. Getting a definitely ginger kick (booyah!) as this cooled, which I’m absolutely loving. The peach was more apparent when it was hot though, whereas the ginger was completely absent then. Hm.

Still, an overall yum, y’all.

Super light, refreshing tea, that would be lovely iced. I get mostly juicy, real peach though, and am missing any sort of ginger – boo.

This seriously rivals TeaGschwendner’s Bamboo Pomelo for unusual juicy herbal amazingness. Oversteeped it brings out the bite of the ginger, while the lime is still fresh and juicy. And the smell…..!! Oh, the smell. It’s pure lime, and it’s amazing.. I just leave the bag out sometimes, it smells so good.

Only about a pot left, so I’ve got to convince my Edmontonian friend to grab me some more and ship it down. :$

Preparation

Suziqzer

Ooo… Hubby might like this one since he enjoyed Bamboo Pomelo iced… and he loves lime in cokes, and some beer.. Ugh, not my thing. I like lime, just not in other drinks- with the exception of a margarita, but I guess that’s a lime drink..

Definitely upping the rating on this, and already making plans to order more. Oversteeped it dramatically last night, and it’s amazing! Very juicy lime candy quality to it, with a bite of ginger in the finish. A real bite too, not just…. meh ginger. I will drink this often. It did leave quite a bit of residue in the cup though, likely from the powdered ginger.

This smells amazing, and it’s been taunting me for about a day, pleading with me to try it. I think I’ll have to try this iced, however hot, or cold, it’s lovely. Very strong lime flavor, little ginger other than a bit of kick to it.

Had this yesterday in-store in Edmonton with a friend. Was really weak to start, and then got better with a longer steep. Less coconut than expected though, although it was very vanilla creamy, light and yummy.

I had no idea this place existed. Seems really out of the way, though.

Tea #41 from the Here’s Hoping TTB

This is my first tea from the Tea Place and I really enjoyed it. While the scent of the jasmine may be strong, it doesn’t overpower the tea. It also has a nice silky feel to it.

drank Blueberry Green Tea by The Tea Place

given the new teas that arrived today from Kaylee and the order arriving tomorrow from tao leaf tea, i’m not likely to catch up to my tea sister just yet. However, i’m still trying to do my best tonight to get closer to where she is at so we can have a bit of fun haha.

This tea is pretty much a green tea to me, with a hint of something that might be a little fruity? I’m not sure if it was just over contaminated by the travelling tea box it was in or what, but i didn’t feel like finish up the cup i made – it was that “meh” to me.

Ick. This one is not good. The mediciney rooibos is much too strong, and there’s more of an apple flavor than a pear flavor present in my opinion. Adding milk and sweetener helps to bring out the pear and tone down the rooibos, but not enough to make me want to drink another cup!

-Dry blend has red rooibos with yellow petals and pieces of dried fruit.
-Dry leaves smell sweet and of apples. Tea liquor aroma is of rooibos and warm apple.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium reddish brown color.
-Strong rooibos flavor with an apple and pear finish. Light mediciney rooibos aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Fair tea. More of an apple flavor than pear. Strong rooibos flavor noticeable.

Boiling 4 min, 0 sec

One from the Traveling Tea Box! I love a good blueberry mix so this is the first one I picked out to cold brew. Considering that I’ll have the box probably until Thursday I’ll be able to get a lot of iced tea out of it! But first, this one. It doesn’t really smell like much but I think that often happens with small samples that have been hanging around among more assertive cousins—it’s hard to discern anything distinct.

Sadly, that kind of transfers over to the taste. I am getting zero blueberry! It really tastes like an unflavored black. There’s maybe a whiff of generic fruit and there’s some nice floral elements (from the big mallow blossom in my spoonful!) but really, it’s just kind of a regular iced tea. The green blueberry blend from the same company smells much more like, well, blueberries so I will give that one a shot next!

Veronica

I haven’t tried the blueberry black yet. The blueberry green is really nice, and I was hoping the this one would be just as good. Maybe not…

Well, this one is ok – nothing special – but nothing bad. It’s slightly flavored pear, slightly caramel, slightly rooibos flavor. Yes…keyword is SLIGHTLY all across the board. Probably better iced, not bad hot, just not memorable.

More Green tea than Blueberry but that’s ok with me. The Blueberry is alright, here, just be sure not to over infuse because it can/will get bitter. It’s pretty good both hot and cold. It has slight floral notes underneath, too!

It’s pretty good – not my favorite Blueberry Green but satisfying and I would drink it again!

Well, well, well! I’m trying this one and it’s alright but not overly wonderful. It’s not overly blueberry. It’s a bit blueberry-esque but more floral than blueberry. There is enough for a cups-worth so I will send it to Liberteas to get her opinion on it!
