This blend was a gift from family following a recent visit to Idaho. I love fresh sage – it might be my favorite fresh herb for cooking. I’ve had it in a tea once before, one that Michelle sent in a swap earlier this year. I wasn’t sure how a savory herb like sage would fit in with the tea, but I ended up loving it. Turns out, I really love this one too. The aroma when I first opened the bag was strong, but in a really good way. There’s a good punch of sage right away, and it sort of hits you full in the face with this bright almost citrus-like aroma. I also love seeing large pieces of dried sage leaf in the mix too. It just feels like special care was taken in blending it. The tea itself (which according to the website is assam and ceylon) is bold and dark, and it held up well to honey and cream. The sage continues to shine in the steeped tea. It doesn’t overwhelm, nor does it shrink itself and become overshadowed by the stronger base teas. I really like this one. It’s also feels pretty special because it came from people I really love and I got to spend the afternoon having tea with them.

Hey, they visited out my way!
Yay for visiting family! I’ve been mixing chicory, spearmint and sage. Its not bad.
Tea from people you love always tastes better, regardless of brand or origin :)
Gmathis, I’m sending you a colossal virtual hug, just because you are so lovely.
Awww! I needed that this morning.

Love that this comment section turned into a virtual group hug. <3
Mastress Alita – The pictures from their trip were amazing. It looks so beautiful there. I’ve never been but I’d love to visit one day.
Michelle – Where do you get your chicory? I’ve only ever seen it in blends?
