I got this as a very kind sample with an order at Teas and More in Titusville, Florida, my old hometown.
I have a hard time with yellow teas, but this one was a pleasant surprise. The corn husk notes and water chestnut notes were the most prominent as well as the umami and watercress aftertaste that you get in this variety, purples, greens, and shengs, but it was offset by a viscous and creamy texture and a really nice vanilla note. The peony florals and the corn notes made it very similar to a white silver needle, but the watercress and bamboo notes made it a little closer to a green or purple tea in terms of taste.
I’m not sure if I would buy this variety often, but I did enjoy this one for how fresh and creamy it was and I thank William for doing such a good job with picking this one out. I will be sad when I finish this one off.
I’m very sick. Send help. Have the help bring tea.
btw I added fennel to this because 12 things in a tisane is not enough things. Also fennel and peppermint are just the cat’s pajamas together.
Do you have any idea how stressful it is to file taxes as a self-employed musician? It’s about as difficult as trying to build a Rube Goldberg machine immediately following dental surgery. I’m as stressed out as a cat trying to bury a turd on a marble floor.
Enter Swiss Herbs… (aka liquid valium)
It’s got passionflower, it’s got vervain. With those nerve depressant ingredients it could taste like Swiss ear wax and I’d still be drinking it right now. But guess what? It doesn’t! It tastes awesome! And it’s totally gonna make me drowsy enough to order stuff on Amazon and not remember, so that I get a surprise from myself in the mail in about 5-7 business days. Rejoice!
BTW this tea is almost identical to Teavana’s discontinued Swiss Vervaine Melange.
