Quite frankly there is no greater tea than Yorkshire Tea. An extremely refreshing strong taste and you don’t need to mash the tea for an age.

Cannot believe I spent my entire life drinking coffee, so many wasted years when I could have had this instead!! I used to think all tea tasted awful (cough LIPTON)..but Yorkshire tea has turned me into a tea drinker and it is absolutely incredible.

I actually browse the shelves at Home Goods and TJMaxx for my tea as their prices are excellent and one finds some very unusual teas there. I am most definitely a hard core black tea person however, and since they no longer carry the best tea in the world – Twinning 1706, I saw lots of the Taylor’s of Harrogate and decided to try that. Wonderful stuff! Sadly however, after a year of their having it, the shelves are currently bare. So it was either back to ordering 1706 from Amazon or order my Taylor’s online. Decisions…decisions… but there really is nothing quite like the 17006.

For about a year this has been my go-to black tea, and I’m standing by it strongly still. I drink it almost every morning and never get sick of it.

It is smooth and full-flavored. Careful not to over-steep it. About 4 min seems perfect, then take out the bag. I drink it black. Use water just about to boil. Also, it is key not to use too much water, or else the flavor can be diluted, so if you have a large mug, maybe don’t fill it completely.

This really is the platonic ideal of a cuppa. It’s not the tea that I grew up with, but it was the tea that got me through university, and I’ve never looked back.

Smooth as a velvet… mellow as gold. It’s hard to decide weather I should brew Clipper or this treasure now…

I seriously have no idea what the heck this is. Acrid, tastes like rich dirt. Smells interesting though. Second time I brewed it “weak” and it was still way too strong.

I’m sure it comes as no surprise that this is my favourite tea. It has a good, rich flavour without being bitter, and is the ideal every day tea. Add a dash of milk (or, if you’re me, more than a dash) and some sugar, and it is absolute perfection. I’ve had it noted to me before that some people think it brews rather strong rather quickly, but I believe it stays quite tasty.

This tea is absolutely lovely. I’m not normally an herbal tea enthusiast, but this one quite hits the spot. The touch of hibiscus is pleasant, but not overpowering, and the tea itself is light and sweet. I’ve found it works quite well as an iced tea as well. Also, the colour of the tea is stunning – when fully steeped, it’s a purplish-rose. The tea is fragrant, gentle, and sweet. It’s perfect for sitting in the garden in the early summer.

Another from Nicole! I really love assam, it’s my favorite unflavored type of black for sure. While I am quite loyal to my Captain Assam, I know it’s not going to be around forever so I’d like to find a good substitute for the horrible day when my tin runs out (actually I’m almost there!) and there are no more for sale.

This is a nice assam, perhaps a bit lacking on the strong, malty molasses notes I look for usually. In fact, this is pretty light for an assam, without any of those “WAKE UP!” flavors I’d expect. It’s a nice tea and I’m happy to have tried it, but it doesn’t quite have the punch I was hoping for.

I absolutely adore this tea. I tried it when I first visited England in October 2010, and now it’s my daily cuppa. It is quite strong, but the flavour is rich and satisfying.

BB #7 for today!

Robust in every way!
Rich, Dark, Hefty!

A little bitter but also malty.

As my grandfather used to say…“it’ll put some hair on your chest!”
Translation…
A nice kick in the pants! haha

Hesper June

I think my hubby would like this tea.
He is always telling me I need to stock more “manly” teas.
He likes strong, robust teas and this one sounds like it would fit the bill.

ashmanra

Oh, it does! It was too manly for me! LOL! This me and Clipper Gold stole my lunch money! Your hubby should like them just fine, Hesper June.

Hesper June

Cool! I will order some for him;)

Hahaha! love your grandpa’s quote :-)

This is not a full leaf tea so it’d be unfair to review it as such. With that said, I find this “dust” tea to be of a great quality, it mixes well with Twining’s lady grey (75% to 25% ratio, less of LG) and goes well with milk (don’t have sugar in my tea, so can’t comment on that). It has a great flavor profile on it’s own as well. I find it to be an exceptional morning and even afternoon brew. Out of more common teas, this is surely a stand out one.

An Ode to Tea challenge #2– N

Finished one of my oldest teas!  But I should really work on trying the remaining new teas.  I still haven’t tried most of my Maya order.  This was a brisk black tea, good for caffeine consumption.   It seems like I’m only drinking Challenge teas lately, but I have mostly reviewed many of the other teas that I’m drinking, so Challenge teas are mostly the only teas being logged.

I tried this again this morning because I was knocked out for some reason. Needed something to wake me up! I didn’t use a full teaspoon for this infusion, since I really want to save the bit I have left, I love it so much. Because of that, this was less brisk and strong. I must have put a ton in the infuser last time. Still delicious — just not the strongest cup of tea I’ve ever had! There was also a flavor I was getting that reminded me of almonds!

thanks to Nicole for sending me some of this in her stash reduction! Now this is interesting and GOOD. I’ve never seen “leaves” so tiny! They didn’t seem to go through my mesh infuser, even though rooibos usually does. This has an interesting scent I haven’t smelled in a tea before. I really don’t think any tea could be too strong for me. This looks like a cup of coffee almost. I needed something tough to wake me up… I think I was still asleep from that Drink T toffee rooibos from last night! This has a delicious black tea flavor that really lingers. I really really like this!

Thank you so much Nicole for sharing this tea!

I decided to try a new tea today because I’m happy it’s Friday. This just happened to be what I picked up first out of my samples. I’m the only one in the office at the moment, making it the perfect tea time.

First of all, the dry leaf smells awesome. I think its because of the surprise ReadMyLips in the same package that scented this tea with yummy chocolate!
Brewed in my favorite big Seattle mug using a T-sac, and followed the 1 minute brewing instruction. Was pleasantly surprised to see the tea become the perfect color in that short amount of time. This made me happy after having lately tried some other really weak black teas I bought that brew disappointingly light after even 4 minutes.

Onto the taste, wow! I love it! Now I know that I like Assam tea, having never had pure Assam before that I know of. It’s so silky and satisfying and I can taste a hint of chocolate. I absolutely love that the chocolate infused this tea a little and I’m going to start storing some teas together in their own bags but in the same tin. Does anyone else do that?

I just brewed it again for 2 minutes now and it’s still good. Nice to have some real tea. Thank you again Nicole!

i really love this tea. in the uk there is a fight between yorkshire and p and g….GO YORKSHIRE! not that o and g is bad bc its not at all im just a yorkshire kind of guy. Its flavour is so much richer and it has a much stronger brew than p&g. its exactly how a good cup of english tea should taste. Strong and full bodies but not overpowering or bitter. Perfect with a teaspoon of sugar, a splash of milk and some toast with jam.

Someone from the UK suggested Yorkshire tea to me. I was glad the store had the gold version since I’d heard such good reviews of it on Amazon. I’ve never been a big fan of basic teas—they have always been too plain for me. This one, however, has a really nice, rich flavor to it. I used filtered water and heavy whipping cream for the first cup. I’m curious how it would have been with tap water and cheap powdered creamer. I probably wouldn’t have liked it. I will definitely get this again. Good thing it came in a box of 40!

Like PG Tips, this is another “Oh, I can’t believe I found this English tea in my grocery store!” purchase. I had thought about buying this on Amazon and now I don’t have to.

This tastes very similar to PG Tips, and the Kenyan tea added to the blend makes those teas distinctive from other English Breakfast teas I’ve had. It’s bold and robust, but there is just something missing here. It just doesn’t seem flavorful enough compared to the similar PG Tips-especially considering the bit of tannic bite. I’ve tried brewing at 2,3, and 4 minutes. Leery about going 5 minutes with a bag of this-getting so much caffeine as it is. It’s not bad, but I am doubting that I’ll buy this again. The same store had Yorkshire Gold-maybe I’ll try that next.

I’ve had the Yorkshire Gold and didn’t think it was terrific. I don’t know if ever got around to rating it.

TeaEqualsBliss

Amy Oh – the first one I had was like…why is everyone LOVING this? But since then I have had better experiences…I totally see what you mean :)

TeaEqualsBliss

I just noticed I didn’t review that either…not there anyways…perhaps it was a double listing…I’ll check :P

Scott B

People really love this red-I expected more out of it even though it’s bagged tea. Does the Gold taste much different than the Red?

TeaEqualsBliss

I don’t think I have tried the Gold :(

Scott B

I think it’s only about $5 for a box of Gold-I probably can’t resist even if it’s not that memorable.

TeaEqualsBliss

I hear ya! :) LOL

This is my go to when I have a lot of work to do and want a decent cup of tea. It’s not mind blowingly awesome, but I like strong tea and Yorkshire Gold does it. The flavor is pleasantly malty and it’s a caffeine powerhouse.
