A lot of the teas in my cupboard are a cup or two away from sipdown and this is exciting for me. I want to get under 50 and then maybe I’m allowed to start buying some new ones.

No, that’s ridicukous. Fifty teas are still too many.

But who am I kidding? We’re not on Steepster to have a small amount of teas.

Sil

haha my goal is to get to 50….this is down from a time when i was at 350+

Memily

lol Sil! I think that was around the time I first started following you… your cupboard was certainly a place to be reckoned with! You’re doing marvellously…

Sil

hahaha yeah… except the closer it gets to 50 the more i’m like but i have nothing to drink!

Memily

I know right, I’m going through the same thing! “But my choices are so limited!” We are idiots.

A big pot of this while having a foot pampering afternoon was just the right choice.

Look after your toots, toots.

Celeste Alice

Foot pampering and tea certainly go hand in hand :D

7hrs is a bit long for a cold steep for this one, IMHO. Let’s stick with that way shorter time! 3-4hr narrow timing, cool.

YEAH STILL BAFFLED BY THIS TEA AND ITS FLAVOURS

Tried this as a cold brew out of curiosity and it came out with almost exactly identical flavouring to the hot brew, but it’s still one I can’t quite put my finger on. Such an odd combination of sweet and savoury and I continue to be bemused and curious!

I just drank the 3hr steep today but have a 7hr steep as well, it will be interesting to drink that one later. Also interesting is just how much flavour came out of the 3hr steep. So surprising to me, this cold brewing method.

Second steeping of yesterday’s leaves (left them in the timolino) because I will 95% of the time try for a resteep, hehe. Thankfully this is a brew that rewards me, same 70° temperature with a doubled steep time (roughly—I forgot to set my timer) brings out those lovely hay notes and still a hint of citrus too, amazingly. Maybe it’s all in my head? But I’m crushing.

Preparation
160 °F / 71 °C 8 min or more 1 tsp 12 OZ / 354 ML

I received a bag of this today with my first Monstrositea box… it wasn’t one of the tea samples, but it was a sample in an earlier box I missed out on (I only signed up in time for box #3 onward) and it just sounded so GOOD I had to have it.

I was worried that I’d overhyped it, but I diligently stuck to steeping rules and it’s come out absolutely lovely. Delicate and strangely almost savoury but still sweet and a little like delicious hay. This is a beautiful brew.

Monstrosities?

Memily

Monstrositea.com.au! One of two awesome tea subscriptions available in Australia as of 2014. So exciting for this tea nerd.

Sil

i realised it was likely local to australia after i asked.. BOOOOO..but very exciting for you. I like the look and feel of their site haha

Memily

Haha sorry Sil! We Aussies have to get something down here, we miss out on so much (thanks to Steepster for reminding me so often)…
