Sipdown! 138/365!

Second (and final) bag of this was average. I drank it without even realizing I’d finished it, so I must have brewed it better than last time, but it also didn’t wow me with anything unique. Not too surprising, as it was a bagged tea; this is probably about how it has tasted the whole time. Thanks to whoever this is originally from!

Ok, so someone gave me this tea as a sample, but I cannot find it on Steepster. It’s pyramid teabags with the company name, “Origin Ceylon Tea” (which, by the way, appears to be a German tea company), but the only other info I have is handwritten on the ziploc – Sencha Sanquhar Single Estate Origin Ceylon Tea. But, this isn’t a tea on Steepster or on their site. Sil, VariaTea – familiar at all? I don’t recognize the writing offhand, but if it was from either of you, I’m sure it would have been logged before…

Anyhow, it’s not a big deal if this mystery is never solved, because this tea was pretty meh. I also think I oversteeped it by accident, making it even more unremarkable. Will have to try again with the second and final teabag.

This… this is lame. I usually love apple tea. And I usually really like Ceylon. But this is a weak, bland, barely fruity mess with a hint of honey. Like something Celestial Seasonings would make. It also has a sort of indistinct herbal, chamomile-ish taste. It’s been a while since I really disliked a tea. But this does it. I’ll finish the cup, but never again.

But to be fair, I tried this at a friend’s house and it was not in a sealed container. It could just be really stale.

The apricot scent is spot on through the dry tea bags. The peach is a nice pairing, but the apricot is most noticeable. I’m having a cup of this iced today. Brewed, I find that the tea base is prominent and the fruit flavor comes at the end. The fruity finish is of true fruit, nothing artificial, which is quite nice. I only wish it were stronger! I think that this would be rather nice with sugar, but I don’t typically sweeten my tea. Overall, a decent & simple iced tea. Nothing superb or unique about it.
