Montreal Tea Festival – Tea #12

This was the best of the three or so odd matchas that I sampled while at the festival – it was a small booth near the end of the hall, where they were grinding down the tencha into matcha at their stand, and then making samples from that matcha.

I’m not actually the world’s biggest fan of straight matcha, but there was something about this one that was just thick enough with lots of froth and a really creamy, fresh taste that appealed to me a lot. I actually got a couple straight matcha samples in my goodie bag though so I didn’t pick any up – I don’t drink enough straight matcha to make that worthwhile, on top of the freebies.

It was good though! And very cool getting to watch the tencha be ground down.
