Very strong, smoky, ashen and wooden aroma.
Really strong, bitter, assertive taste, gives the instant stimulating kick to the head.
I wouldn’t like to drink it as everyday yerba mate, but sporadically it’s great.

Starting my day with this after my matcha. This your typical unflavored Mate. There is a reason that Mate is roasted or mixed other ingredients. So if you’re a cowboy and can stand a brew that tastes like sweat socks this is for you.

This is my first true Yerba Mate tea, so wasn’t sure what to make of it. I think I made it a little too strong. It was very, very bitter plain. Once I added stevia and almond milk, it was like a completely different tea. Definitely a very roasted flavor. Overall, pretty decent with additions, but undrinkable plain.
