This one I threw into my order of samples because I couldn’t not! Almond oolong, oh yeah. And yeah, this one is fab. Tons and tons of almond flavor, like amaretto or marzipan. Yum. I’ve mostly had almond black teas, and I think the oolong base works well with it. It supports without overtaking it, and the almond brings out the buttery-ness in the oolong. I prefer it to the roasted oolong base of the Fauchon 2013 Sweet Almond and Orange in part because I don’t need the roastiness all the time. I think this would be awesome combined with a rose oolong, which is also on my list of oolongs that need replacing, since DF seems to not be carrying Rose de Mai anymore. If only My Green Teapot had a rose oolong too!

Naivetea replacement trial #2. It is convient that My Green Teapot carries both passion fruit and lychee green oolongs, I like one-stop shopping.
Like the passion fruit oolong, this one is quite similar to the old Naivetea offerings, and I think it will make a good replacement. Lots of lychee flavor, and a nice floral oolong base. It tastes fresh and juicy, not artificial. There is some notes of honey but I think that is left over on my infuser from when I had Fauchon’s Madeline tea and obviously didn’t clean well enough. It works, though, and it gives me ideas for future oolong blending!

The bottoms of the tins of my Naivetea Passion Fruit and Lychee oolongs are getting distressingly close, so I am on the hunt for replacements. I discovered this tea company offers both passion fruit and lychee, so I ordered samples of both. I like that this company appears to get their teas direct from Taiwan, which is how Naivetea used to do it.
The aroma on this is super promising. Lots and lots of juicy passion fruit. The single-serve sample was perhaps a bit more leaf than I would usually use, so I dropped the steep time a bit, and it came out well. Any extra-vegetalness I am attributing to too much leaf, but even so there isn’t much. This may be the tea I am looking for: lots of passion fruit, lots of floral green oolong. It seems perhaps a bit less naturally sweet than the Naivetea, but that may be down to over-leafing. This is probably enough to get me to order a larger amount and then do a side-by-side with the Naivetea. Promising!

Thank you for the free sample!
Glad to have tried it, and I might need to try it again. The sample was really for one serving, but I tried dividing it up in two for western. It was on the fainter side because of the way I made it, but it was very good. Think berries and cream. The florals and fresh green character were there like in every one of these oolongs, but it was not at all vegetal-only a little grassy if I over-steeped. I know that strawberry oolongs are pretty common on this website, but I cannot speak to how it compares to the others since I’ve not had them. I have had strawberry green teas, and this one far excels those.
Like I said, I’m going to have to try this again when I can afford to because it was a good tea. This is a good bet if you are looking for a good quality flavored tea.
This is one of my favorite flavored teas as of now. I can brew it multiple times Gong Fu, Western, or for long periods in a tumbler. The passionfruit flavor is strong, sweet, and punch-y, and it blends naturally with the smooth texture and the florals of the oolong. My friend who has never had passion fruit thought it was like berry. It can be a little grassy if you use too many leaves, but if you use just enough, it can be difficult to over steep.
If it were not for the price, I would buy this along with the Almond Oolong and the Lychee in bulk because I was that satisfied with this tea. The teas from this company in general wake me up and give me that happy feeling that I can only get from a good tea. They are also refreshing in their own right and very easy to cold brew. So there it goes-a good quality flavored tea that I would recommend, especially for those who like passion fruit. If only I were not two servings away from a sip-down.
This one grew on me. My roommate was frickin’ hooked to it. The almond flavor is very strong, and if you use too many leaves, it borders on being overwhelming marzipan tea. It actually reminded of an almond flavored bubble tea because it was so sweet. After I went for the less is more approach, I drank this one CONSTANTLY. It became a class requirement that I designated in my tumbler. Again, good gong fu, western, and grandpa with the oolong coming more naturally in terms of texture. The florals were nice, but distracted my other friend with how green they were-never mind these teas are minimally vegetal. When the opportunity arises, I’ll get some more.
I have so many backlogs to do…
Like I said in the other review, I very deeply enjoyed this one. Highly aromatic-basically smelled like peach candy. But the flavor did not detract from the oolong-the florals and fresh green profile of the leaves accented it. This was good for about 6-8 brews Gong Fu starting with 30 seconds, good for 4 brews western starting between 1-2 minutes, and good for grandpa with less leaves in my tumbler. Out of all the samples of the regular sampler on their website, this was close to my favorite with the lychee. I actually found myself craving this one.
I got these a few weeks ago, and I was very happy I did. I’ve always wanted to try the flavored oolongs from Naivetea, but considering the state of their website, and after seeing these guys on steepster, I gave them a try. Every single of these flavored green oolongs has produced at least seven brews Gong Fu with beginning steeps of 35-45 seconds. The flavors for all of them were potent as candy, but most of the flavors flowed well with the oolong as advertised.
This one with the Passionfruit and the Almond were my favorites, though all of them were very enjoyable. The Lychee flavor held throughout, but with a medium texture accented creamy florals and greenery under the fruit. That accent was in all the other teas as they all held up Gong Fu, Western with less leaves, and Grandpa tumbler style with less leaves. I wonder what the base was, and I am actually curious to try their unflavored oolongs-especially the Golden Phoinex and their Alee Mt.
As for these, I frickin loved them enough to force myself not to finish them off. I am about to soon. I have too much oolong on my hands and coming now, but I would definitely recommend this company and will buy more in the future.
Great Lychee Flavor. All natural and whole tea leaves
Welcome to Steepster! Just a heads up it’s not considered good form to give a numerical rating to your own teas. Feel free to write tasting notes but we can get a bit touchy when it looks like someone affiliated with the company effectively manipulates the ratings.
