In the morning I like a nice cup of tea quickly made, so using tea bags is perfect. This supermarket brand does the job, and at a very competitive price. Further more, it doesn´t turn bitter that easily when having it steeping too long.
Flavors: Tea
Preparation
Ok, so I admit that it would have been folly to have high hopes about this one, given that it’s a supermarket bagged tea that cost me a whopping great 99p for a box, but still. Where are the strawberries? Where’s the cream? Why am I basically getting a vague fruity aroma that doesn’t really seem to be anything in particular except, like, generic fruit?
It’s a pleasant enough taste when brewed and served iced, and I suppose worth the 99p as an emergency ration, or for circumstances away from home where you might not have the means to brew looseleaf, but feh.
I later experimented with having it warm with a few lavender buds thrown in. This made it more interesting. I’ll probably do this from now on with it, as I think it actually made the strawberry more strawberryish and less generic-berry, though I still never found those elusive suggestions of cream. Oh well.
It is getting really hard for me to resist investing in more tea. I already have a ridiculously overflowing kitchen cupboard’s worth, plus a fair amount of counter space, plus two boxes of my most recent orders which don’t yet fit in the cupboard or on the counter. And yet there are gaps in my collection!
But I suppose I should find myself in sustainable employment first, right? gazes wistfully at a handful of website shopping carts
And what’s more, I keep forgetting I own stuff. Like this one, for example. It’s a decent, serviceable loose leaf earl grey. It’s not going to blow any minds, but you know what, it’s good. I tend to drink my earl greys in combination with other flavours, so I chucked in a pinch of Adagio’s raspberry and a little Irish breakfast for backbone, and yum. Good morning, universe! I’m ready to paint the cast of the Ninth Doctor’s run (happy 9th birthday, revived series of Doctor Who!) and finish a new illustration of Ian and Barbara for a tshirt. Oh and apply for a crapload of jobs too. Nothing discourages quite like “we often receive hundreds of applications” in an automated confirmation email, does it? I’m about as likely to win the lottery.
Maybe I’ll pick up a scratch ticket when I’m at the store to get toilet roll today. Ooh, there’s an idea for a diet, come to think of it: every time I plan to buy chocolate at the store (which is often) I buy the equivalent cash value in lottery tickets instead. Which is the better investment?
Preparation
It’s hard for me to give this tea a rating on its own, because I barely ever drink it straight.
I bought it because I needed a basic Earl Grey to make biscuits with (which I sandwiched with blackberry and lavender jam, GOOD) and now I use it as a kind of inexpensive guinea pig when I want to see which other teas/flavours do or don’t pair well with Earl Grey.
So today, after making a cup of the white blueberry I mentioned earlier, I decided to mix it with some of the Earl Grey, a measure of oolong, and a bit of almond. Tastes like blueberry muffins. Win!
