When I was in Quebec City, I decided to buy this rooibos from Monsieur T. The name intrigued me, and despite the smell of Root Beer in the bag, I really wondered if the taste was going to be the same.
Well, I taste it today and… yes, it taste Rootbeer but without the sparkling. And it doesn’t hide the rooibos and the honeybush. It’s very strange and I don’t know how to describe this! Lol Like I say in my review (in French), if you don’t know what Rootbeer is, I suggest trying it before to try this blend. You probably understand what I mean by “it taste rootbeer” and not to describe each ingredient.
Preparation
I’m not sure of what I’m smelling first. Is it eucalyptus? It smells very strong, and I’ve already smell this before but I can’t put a name on it. It doesn’t taste incredibly good hot but I guess that’s the kind of herbal drink that you would rather drink for the benefits than for the taste. However, it is surprisingly good cold-steeped. Instead of a light yellow colour, it is bright pink and it tastes much more fruity.
My first genmaicha! I like it! Although I can’t compare it with other companies… But yeah, the roasted rice goes well with the bitterness of the ‘grassy’ green tea. This can easily be my everyday go-to green tea.
