I bought this matcha only because I had run out of the Maeda En Shiki matcha I bought in Vancouver, and was desperate . Still, I had some hope for it based on the description.
To be clear, I haven’t tried this ceremonial style – just in an iced latte – but that being said, I could still tell that the quality was lacking. As soon as I opened the tin I was unimpressed by the colour – not awful, but not as rich of a green as I expect. Sure enough, once it was in my drink I found that the taste was rather flat, and worst of all for me I found it was really grainy in texture, and I had to constantly shake the bottle because it would settle almost immediately to the bottom if I didn’t. Yuck. Worst of all, the price for the quality is terrible: $30. I will happily pay that for good matcha, but not for this gritty stuff.
Even my boyfriend (who is not as much of a tea nerd as I am) noticed it and said he thought it didn’t taste as good, or give him as much energy as the Maeda En matcha – and this was before I’d given him my opinion on it.
So yeah, the “1st Harvest Organic” is now relegated to baking matcha, and I’m waiting on a shipment of more Maeda En Shiki matcha :) $12 a container and it’s smooth and flavourful, unlike this. Sorry Matcha Mountains.
OH wow! I love this!
It is so good! So very refreshing! We have had some warm weather over the last couple of days so I decided it was time to break out some of this and give it a try! It is so awesome!
I’ll be needing to get more of this for the summer. My kids will love this too. It tastes just like lemonade, but with a mere hint of Matcha. So good!!!
Still not quite lemonade weather in my neck of the woods but this sounds delicious! I’ll have to try it!
Well, I live in the Pacific NorthWET so while it was lemonade weather today… it might not be tomorrow. Here, it really can be said “if you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes and it might change” because, that’s how quickly the weather can shift from sunny to rainy… or from cloudy, misty and wet to bright and sunny.
This is absolutely rich, creamy, and dreamy! So good! So very very good!
The blueberry flavor is strong and really pops. The vanilla is more of a background note – very smooth and sweet. The matcha is a softer flavor here, but I can taste it and I love the combination of flavors with this latte mix… so very yum!!!
Awwwww-yeah!
This is nice! It frothed-up real nice!
This smells like a raspberry chocolate truffle!
The powder is dark – more than the others I have tried from Matcha Mountain so far…more of a gray-brown-green color.
The taste is a creamy raspberry and just a notch underneath that is a semi-sweet chocolate that comes thru!
D-Lish! I like this very much! I am enjoying it even more after letting set at room temp for just a few moments! YUM!
I have been waiting and wanting to try this for a while now and thought I would wait for a special day! Since I really didn’t do much but work today – and it’s my birthday – I thought this would be the way to celebrate! Boy! What a lovely treat it was!
This is GRAND! It smells like blueberry and vanilla candies prior to adding the liquid. After the mixture is mixed it smells like a mellower vanilla and blueberry. The taste is great! It’s a creamy vanilla with plump blueberry and a hint of what tastes like chocolate! OMG! Awesome! The more I sip this the more I LOVE it! YUM.
As it cools it seems to have an end sip of light cinnamon powder and an aftertaste of graham crackers! Truly unique!
I’m not sure that I can purchase it.. it just has information for businesses. :\
“Cafe and trade use, and for retail stores in a convienient and attractive retail metal screwtop tins”
Bummer!
Hey, you got Matcha in my Chai … No, YOU got Chai in my Matcha!
This is A-MAZ-ING! It is pleasantly spiced – not at all what I would classify as “spicy” but gently spiced. The Matcha is smooth and creamy and sweet and vegetal. So lovely. Not too sweet.
Words cannot express just how much I love this but I am going to sure as heck try! I did sneak a sip of this hot and it was very tasty but I went with the iced version while drinking my full cup and this is truly amazing! Absolutely remarkable! If you are a lemonade fan you will LOVE this! It taste like pure lemonade…but HEY…it’s matcha! There is no need to add sugar! Just water and ice! This is a sugary-sweet lemonade with green tea/matcha base. Lemony-goodness to the fullest extent! It’s not a sour lemon it’s a sugary lemon just like you would expect from a lemonade. I don’t know how else to say this but I absolutely LOVE this…no doubt about it! This is brilliant!
Very frothy.
It’s sweet but there is a mysterious hint of sourness to it too…
It starts off very green tasting and ends very creamy – more creamy than I expected.
This is ok…
there is something odd about it I just can’t describe it or put my finger on…odd doesn’t necessarily mean bad…just different…
It’s not your fault it’s mine…
No…really…it’s not YOU it’s me!
I was the dumbass who used almond milk. I know it didn’t work out so well. I won’t rate you yet. I have one more package left so I will do it “right” next time. I’m sorry. Forgive me!
Yummy. I just had a steaming mug of Matcha Latte! Mmmm! It still surprises me how fast Matcha disappears when its placed in front of me.
But OH! is this good. The sweetness to this Latte mix is not overwhelming or cloying, I like that I can taste the bittersweet notes of the matcha. Sweet, slightly bitter, very creamy, and delicious. And… bonus points because I am no longer hungry!
This is the first of my Matcha Mountains Matcha/Latte Samples…I am very excited to try them all!
This smelled like a gentle chai with green tea in powder form. Once added to milk and heated the aroma got stronger! It had a very nice chai smell to it! The color after preparing was much like the photo.
The taste is very satisfying! The mixture of spices are wonderful…they are both sweet and spicy but not overly done my any means. I like this very much.
