There’s an Indian Grocery store we visit 3 times per year to acquire spices, CTC, herbs, and big bags of rice. The point is, they’re always cooking food next door and it’s very turmeric heavy in the air. Of course there are other mixed spices, but the turmeric jumps out and my sensitive nose twitches.

This is very turmeric heavy in the flavor and smell. Ginger is dancing on the palate, but not as much. Honeybush adds a touch of subtle sweetness, but barely. Perhaps a little less turmeric, and I’d be on board.

Dry leaf: Spicy ginger, berries, sweet, & medicinal.

Wet leaf: Ginger, fruity, & floral

Flavor: As much ginger you get on the nose, the tea actually is well balanced in flavor. The hibiscus is present (the slightly tart and sweetness) and dances with the elderberries. Ginger is only there as a backup player, assisting in the dance, but not too present. The tea tastes healthy, but I like it.

Dry leaf: Craisins, cranberry, & cherry

Wet leaf: tart, baked cherry pie, cranberry sauce, & cherries.

Flavor: This was sweeter than I had expected it to be. It’s very natural and refreshing. I’d imagine it’d work much better as an iced tea, but it was fairly good hot. I’ll have to brew it iced during the week, since I’ve been on an iced tea kick during the work shift a lot lately.

I had made two cups of herbal blends tonight, on the account its nearing midnight, and I wanted something warm. The first tisane I chose was the Lady Meow Meow’s Tessa In Heaven. Upon opening the bag, it was a power punch of rooibos. I like rooibos, but for a tea with supposed vanilla notes, I wasn’t getting that vibe.

Flavor: It was definitely a heavy rooibos blend. I got a very small hint of vanilla from the mallow leaf, but this was the first of the selections that didn’t offer a vast unique batch of flavors as the others had…If I weren’t a fan of red rooibos, I’d rate it lower. However, it does make a solid iced latte.

This was the second tea I dug into from the samples given. They noted on paper, “Imagine this as an herbal Genmaicha.” I was eager to give it a go!

Look: The leaf isn’t as beautiful to look at, as the first tea. It was a lot of muted greens and yellow.

Aroma : The aroma of the material was lemon and citrusy notes. Once the tisane hits the water, you get immediate notes from the popped rice and the lemongrass (very aromatic/pleasing).

Taste: Imagine yourself indulging on sweet lemons while eating a bowl of jasmine rice (or maybe a really citrusy dish with rice). I prefer this to an actual Genmaicha, and that’s saying a lot.

Flavors: Citrus, Lemon, Rice, Sweet

I was given a few samples from this company to try, while promising an honest review…I had posted a short note via IG over the weekend, and have a video (hopefully) on YT by Friday, with the teas reviewed.

I’ve been drinking a lot of herbals in general lately, after a few sessions of puerh. This blend was offered at the perfect time in my tea journey, on the account I was running low on a Peppermint tea from a local vendor, who can only be found at the local food market from time to time.

Ok, ok. To the review…

This is a beautiful blend to look at. It’s multicolored — the green of the mint leaves, yellow of the chamomile, and the red from the rose/hibiscus —similar to abstract art. The flavor is surprisingly not a BOLD minty tea, but mint is present; the chamomile and rose really tames the flavor a good bit. I think the addition of hibiscus gives the tisane this odd vanilla vibe, which was unexpected, but welcoming. Overall, this was a good blend out of the gate.
