Stopped by this tea house for even more tea after my visit to Dobra. I prefer Dobra, although this place wasn’t bad. Dobra has better selection and better tea. This one was just…okay. It didn’t taste like a Taiwanese oolong to be honest. Not sure what it tasted like. I honestly couldn’t describe it at all. It wasn’t bad, just incredibly different from what I was expecting. Not the Taiwanese oolong’s I’m accustomed to at least.
The first time I had this tea was at the company’s tea house in Asheville, NC, and it was what got me started in gongfu brewing. I was used to drinking Chinese restaurant jasmines, bitter poorly made greens, and just the supermarket black tea bags. This ginseng oolong exceeded my expectations with its smooth texture and lingering sweetness in the throat, which I assume is the licorice. I loved it so much that I ended up buying an 8oz (200g) bag. This tea has great texture and flavor! (I have a sweet tooth, so I would go buy extra licorice root and add them into my brew for added sweetness)
Flavors: Licorice Root, Sugar, Sweet

I like a good ginseng oolong when I’m feeling rundown. Thanks for the reminder that I need to get my hands on one :)
Ginseng oolong is definitely a great comfort tea! Might I ask where do you get your ginseng oolongs from?
Maybe old? Maybe Vietnamese?
Might be old haha. No vegetal, floral, cream, fruity notes at all like I’d expect from a typical unroasted Taiwanese oolong.
