November Sipdown Prompt – drink your cheapest tea

We go through a quite a bit of this one and the decaf version. Ashman takes this one to work and we drink the decaf at night – sweet and iced. Not bad, but not great. Just serviceable and quenches thirst. I think I had the decaf today but I am too lazy to add it to the database.

Found this last week and drinking now. I made a London Fog with steamed soymilk and added a touch of raw vanilla powder to the tea as I brewed it. I brewed for 5 minutes. Delicate lavender flavor and for the price point it is a win from me! :)

A fresh-tasting jasmine green tea with good flavor for the price point. I can tell it’s not artificially scented. It has a lot of minerality to it and a light green profile, but the jasmine takes the forefront. It’s lightly sweet as well.

Flavors: Green, Jasmine, Mineral, Sweet

Although there is a pleasant lavender fragrance when you first open the can, I found no lavender, or bergamot for that matter, flavor in the brewed tea. The black tea is not bad. No strong tannins.

Preparation
175 °F / 79 °C 5 min, 30 sec 1 tsp 7 OZ / 207 ML

Another tea bag I have received through postcrossing.
And more over, steepster entry is wrong, but I could not access Harris Teeter website to download a new picture and/or add some information about this tea.

Received just only foil wrapping without any inforamtion, not even steeping parameters. It is just plain purple wrap saying “Harris Teeter Organics – English Breakfast Black Tea”

So, steeping paramters for blacks. 3 and 1/2 minutes, boiling water, 300 ml.
It seems it is dusty tea, not even trying to be quality, dry bag smells after basic cheap black tea. Maybe a little of bergamot or citruses, but that’s all. Moreover, I cut through the bag when opening the foil wrap with box cutter, so some tea “leaves” went out. Luckily not much of them.

Wet bag aroma – at least it is not somehow bad. Otherwise is is common, bit cocoa like + malty. Brew aroma is strongly malt.

In taste it is indeed very malty. As well it is quite drying. Few drops of lemon juice will make it better, but I do not have lemons at home. And I like my teas straight.

Overall, it is average, but tasty tea. Do not expect anything extra from this one.

Flavors: Cocoa, Malt, Tea

Preparation
Boiling 3 min, 30 sec 10 OZ / 300 ML

You just blew my mind! Harris Teeter brand tea in the Czech Republic? Harris Teeter is where I shop. It is a grocery chain that was started in Charlotte, NC but the Harris family sold it a long time ago. I would not expect this to be a stellar tea, though I do use their store brand family size black tea bags for iced tea sometimes.

It is certainly not from Czech Republic. That is said it is from postcrossing. At least I have chance to get different flavours.

So, sorry for confusion.

ashmanra

I do understand it came from postcrossing! I just mean I find it amazing that a store brand tea from a local company made it all the way to Czech Republic! They are a small chain, and my friend’s father-in-law founded the store! I just sent her tea for her birthday, in fact!

Ahh. Haha lost in translation I guess. Then – it is even more cool tea bag than I thought.

drank Chai Black Tea by Harris Teeter

This tea…it will be odd at first! It has black pepper, resulting in an odd peppery taste – it may grow on you. The pepper manifests as an aftertaste, blending with the Cardamom, Ginger, and Cinnamon. This tea is cheap….and it tastes decent. I would buy it again and recommend it to anyone wanting something different (it was my first encounter to tea with black pepper in it)

Flavors: Peppercorn
