Hi there in Fort Bragg! Did you ride the ‘SKUNK’ train through the Redwoods today?

Janefan

Nah, we just drove our rental car. My husband likes windy roads. We visited the drive-thru redwood, and have actually now drove the whole 200+ miles of highway 1 from San Francisco to Leggett, CA (where they gave up and connected it back to the 101). Headed to Napa and Sonoma (warmth! Sunshine! Fresh food! And oh yeah, wine!) tomorrow. Kinda done with the cold, foggy coast for now.

If you cut across from around Healdsburg to Calistoga (where you can drive to Napa) you run into Sterling Vinyards that has a tram and across from that is Castle Amarosa which you can’t see from the road castellodiamorosa.com . I would go there absolutely! (My father was from Yountville in the Napa Valley and trimmed vines as a boy for Beauleiu Vineyards). Mondavi is a nice tour also. Calistoga has a geyser, and restaurants not as expensive as Napa. (eat before drinking!)
Have a great time! My cousin Norma’s vineyard is in Ukiah but you probably didn’t go that way.

Thanks to silvermage for letting me try this one.
I love oolongs, but it’s been a while since I’ve had one at home. I was afraid of this blend being too floral, but it’s actually quite mild and pleasant. I’ve been enjoying this one mid-mornings, as a kind of energizer. There’s something very clean and refreshing about it. I can taste the rose component, but it’s not at all perfumey. A pleasant surprise, really!
