Very unusual. I get a strong herbal zing from this one, somewhere between mint and rosemary/camphor, making it a nice refreshing brew. I would not have placed this as a hongcha; perhaps a heicha? Doubt I’ll reach for this one too frequently but it’s nice to have around.

Awesome tieguanyin. Very smooth and very warming. It lasts for a very long time gong fu. Definitely got the grain the company mentions in regards to the flavor of the tea as a dominant note but overall it is very balanced. The aroma is outrageous and just makes you want to down cup after cup. Steeped at 209 degrees.

“Less is more” In architecture school, this was often heard. A fine example of this principle, this Everlasting Teas offering is smooth, straightforward and elegant. I experienced the "morning mist " as a light minerality with yellow cake and sweet ripe peaches. This tea is a crowd pleaser for holiday gatherings & is lovely both hot and iced.

Although not complex, I like this tea. It’s very straightforward and tastes as advertised – honey, malt, cocoa. My primary reason for posting is the recommended brew temperature. When I brewed at the recommended 205°, I found it to be bitter. However 195° brewed a fragrant flavorful liquor with very slight bitterness, which I don’t mind. I will brew again with less leaf, and if less bitter, I’ll edit this post.

EDIT: I have brewed this again with slightly less leaf & found no bitterness. I also was able to experience a faint flavor and aroma of fine tobacco & Italian leather. I really enjoyed this added complexity.

This tea is really hard to describe. I tried it today at the tea festival for the first time and had to buy a tin (even though I promised myself I wouldn’t purchase anything, let’s just say that resolution didn’t last long). Their tasting notes sound very strange but they are accurate. Morning mist, yellow cake and peaches. The top note is a really refreshing vegetal note that I’ve never experienced in a black tea. It reminded me of what the grass, wet with dew, smelled like when I went camping as a kid. In the middle it really does taste like yellow cake batter. Yum! Each sip ends with a peachy note. I rarely buy whole tins anymore but I’m looking forward to playing around more with this one.
