Surprisingly malty and chocolatey underneath the heavy-hitting bitterness. The lack of stems and high polvo content make it easy to sculpt into a mound in your gourd, but you almost need a Brazilian style bombilla to prevent clogging.
Flavors: Bitter, Chocolate, Malt, Wood
This is a very strong mate that might come off as too strong to someone not used to mate. Getting past the bitterness, this mate actually has a decent depth of flavor. On the surface it’s woody, earthy and slightly smoky. Once it has left it’s imprint on the palate, it reveals sort of a smooth milk chocolate flavor.
Preparation
This is the strongest mate that I’ve tried to date. It’s very bold tasting, and I usually mix it wih a flavored mate just to add flavor. I like that it doesn’t contain stems because that just leaves room for more tea leaves!
